The Story of the Casa Loma

From Wiki - Casa Loma (Spanish for Hill House) is a Gothic Revival style house in midtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that is now a museum and landmark. It was originally a residence for financier Sir Henry Mill Pellatt. Casa Loma was constructed over a three-year period from 1911--1914. The architect of the mansion was E. J. Lennox, who was responsible for the designs of several other city landmarks.

I'm American and have been to Casa Loma. While the castle itself was incredible, I was fascinated by the story of its owner, Sir Henry Pellatt. His vision, aspiration, and ego helped define early 20th century Canada, and during the peak of his influence he controlled 1/4 of the Canadian economy. Though at the end of his life he was left destitute, widowed, and was only partially redeemed in death I'm rather surprised more hasn't been written of him.

There are a few books written about him. You can see a few listed in his Wikipedia entry. His tragic demise was brought about not just by the effect of the stock market crash of 1929 on his wealth, but IMO the jealousy of his nemesis, Adam Beck, a legislator of the Ontario government. Beck successfully led a campaign to expropriate the hydro-electric generator at Niagara Falls that Pellatt built, because "electricity should be as free as air". Beck then successfully led a campaign that jacked up the taxes on his castle. When he was eventually unable to pay his taxes, Casa Loma was seized by the city. Tragic.

I'm from GUYANA,during my stay in Canada,I had the opportunity of visiting and having a tour of this CASTLE.
The Castle is somewhat SPOOKY in certain areas.
