They help with my joint pain n elbow protection. If you're just a trying to get stronger. Use the wraps. Train with them. Protect your joints. I wished I used them in my 20s.

It’s not cheating in my book to use them to hit goals and PRs any more than using deadlift straps are to hit a PR. It’s just not going to fly if you use it as a competition lift.

I started using elbow wraps on my bench because I was experiencing tendonitis when I use heavier loads. As soon as I started using the wraps it alleviated a lot of the pain I was experiencing in my elbows

Of their elbow sleeves. It def helps, but I def do not consider it to be cheating. Just helps about 15-20 lbs

51, amateur/LA Fitness, got some DMoose elbow straps, like benching in a Cadillac! Weightlifting is a young man's sport and as you get holder things can hurt and so you can lift and you can feel the creaks. Put those wraps on, no pain, NOT to be believed the difference. Does it add weight? I'd say 10%, but here's the thing, I'm now lifting weight I can do but just avoided doing because I didn't want to do it. I'd go to Hammer Strength machines and now I'm back!

Just came to this video because I was curious what wrapping does. Just to add my 2 cents, I have been using elbow sleeves for a year since I got tennis elbow on my right arm, and then I lost one of the sleeves so I've just been using the sleeve on my right arm the last 9 months. I didn't notice any strength difference with and without the sleeve on my left arm and my right arm isn't necessarily able to outbench my left arm, talking about dumbbell bench press. So as far as I can tell, sleeves don't add anything. It didn't even occur to me that it could.

My raw benchpress is only 175 atm at 150 bw and I probably wouldn't count a pr with wraps this soon since im only about a year and a half into lifting, but I was just wondcering if they have any benefits doing heavier reps on bench? Because right now I usually rep 145 for around 5 reps and if I could up that to 160-165 with the wraps would that help me progress at all or would it just be pointless?

Are you saying that Elbow wraps do not help add weight to your bench? If that’s so I disagree. If wrapped how I seen wrapped then it adds at least 15lbs. I have benched over 500 and I have coached multiple ppl over 600 lb benches and they agree with me
