Mark Wallace continues his series on ""failing forward,"" the process of learning new things by taking on difficult photoshoots. In this episode, Mark's plans to shoot the Milky Way don't go as planned, and he has to change his plans quickly. He gets help from his friend, Ayleen Martinez, and ends up photographing a glacier in Patagonia.

Great lesson. Even with guides, motorcycles and a camera man stuff stills goes wrong. No whining just make the best photograph you can. The best lesson was the debrief at the end of what went right and what went wrong. Watched to see the ice cave photography and got to see that even internet photographers have to make the best of what is in front of them. Then takes a moment and reflects on how it could improve. Great work.

Thanks Mark! You got some great shots. I've had to resort to plan B when plan A fails. I'm thinking I should also have a plan C too. Loved the video and can't wait to see your Milky Way shots.

Heading to Patagonia end of March. Id been wondering about the ice caves there. Definitely not as dramatic as the ones I've experienced in Iceland. But may still head to the caves in Patagonia. Good to know about the variation in weather.

Chi Liu end of March will be the beginning of winter in Patagonia. The ice will be better then. Pack warm clothes!

Question: how is the Leica gear handling the conditions there, i.e., the cold - wet conditions in the caves? Any issues or extra precautions taken? Fun series, looking forward to seeing those heavenly stars framed by the 'End of the World...' Looks like a tough assignment, eh, but someone's got to do it?

As usual, great video Mark. The important thing is that you always learn from failing.
Please let me know what bag do you get. Just yesterday as I was getting ready for today that I'm leaving for a 3 days wedding I realize my travel bag is not enough. It has different compartments for camera and other stuff but I need a slighly larger one.
    Take care and keep posting.
Ah! And that guy, Poncho? looks k¡like your iolder brother =)

Just curious why you didn’t take some pano shots if your lens choice wasn’t wide enough. Enjoying your adventure travels and videos.
