I bought my Silverstein ligature in January of 2015. The cords are just black. I believe it was their first one. Right now I'm shopping for a new Silverstein and this video is really helpful, thank you! Edit: I did decide on the rose gold, it's arriving Wednesday! After I ordered it, I came across your video where it was now your official choice :-). Thanks again! I plan to shop in your online store soon for a new barrel.
I love your sound, enthusiasm, and your sense of adventure to try different equipment. You have fun doing this and we enjoy your efforts. Keep videos coming. Have you ever tried a crystal mouthpiece? If so, what kinds have you tried.
Doctor thank you for your enthusiastic video again - sometimes I think we are in some kind of cult how many more ligatures will there be in the world I sometimes use shoelace Best wishes keep up your good work - God bless you - Bill - UK
Hi! Thanks for the great video. I am in search for a new ligature and this helped a lot. Questions... 1 - In regard to the Hexa Ligatures was this the Gen 4 or Gen 5? 2 - What size is it? Is it the Small or Medium? 3 - As I am now using the Legere Reed, I am having issues with finding a ligature that doesn't slip. This ligature is recommended, your thoughts? 4 - Are there any options to test them out? Looking forward to hearing from you! Mahalo Nut Loa for your video!!!!!
the Silverstein is intriguing- old school string style. I have a bunch of ligs: Charles Bay, Mitchell Lurie, Vandoren M/O, Bonade inverted, Luyben, Harrison, Rovner and some old one with a plate right behind the screws ! I keep going back to the Harrison for some reason!
I think it's good to keep a few different ligatures and reed types in the arsenal. They help the same clarinet sound and react differently, which is desirable for creative expression and different situations.
Hello, what are your thoughts on the quattro ligature? I saw that it is the most reasonably priced out of the whole lineup that Silverstein presents, but it was not mentioned in the video.
Hello! I did not include the quattro in my video because I am not particularly fond of it. For me, the more strings, the better (hence my preference of the Hexa (6 strings)).
I am starting clarinet again after decades. I would like to buy a ligature that is reasonably priced, no, small income priced, but not the junk given to elementary school students.
Hi Brenda! Yeah, these ligatures are a substantial investment, for sure! My favorite “value” ligatures are the D’Addario H Ligature and the Bonade inverted ligatures. I’m going to start carrying the H ligatures in my shop soon. :)
I usually don’t ever hear a difference in playing trial videos like this but OH MY GOD the hexas responded SO well!!!
The greatest ligature for me is a hand tied piece of string.

The high f on most instruments is usually flat.I have a 10 G Selmer that puts it at close as I can get.

I dig the H ligatures for sure! I always recommend them to anyone who doesn't want to spend up for Silverstein.
UPDATE: I officially made the switch to the Rose Gold Hexa Ligature. I'm in LOVE!

High F is VERY FLAT...otherwise, all else is GOOD. :)

PS. Don’t swop that Selmer horn it’s great. Bill. Uk
Cuando sube al agudo, si no equilibra levantando un poco la lengua, está baja
I see this has nothing to do with the band silverstein.
I'll be leaving now.
I want to try some BG's
