i love people who appreciate deadmau5 for his musicality i hate people who say its so repetitive and long and boring because they don't understand how music works
***** Consider Deadmau5's character. He's arrogant, overconfident, and sometimes, kind of a dick. A lot of the time he's not even trying (hence using Cthulhu) because he knows whatever he makes will be worshiped; or he's trolling us. But there are occasional gems: he does have compositional talent, as shown here. It's just on standby most of the time :)
Joel recorded 7 on his actual piano, they were demos for him to write in ableton later. You can tell because at the end of each song you can hear him take the pedal off of the piano. He probably just recorded it in a very small room and added the reverb afterwards.
I listen to this when I'm relaxing and when you listen with your eyes closed you can kind of make a story in your mind with the rhythm. not sure if it's just me
If you have ever played the Portal series, these pieces remind me of the lonely but beautiful atmospheres that were perfectly played out in those games.
I can feel your empathy with every light touch of the keys. Playing with the heart & soul will bring every string of the piano alive vibrantly. Keep playin' Evan Duffy... Ur Awesome ! .. ^_^
Evan, you really know to stun me everytime. This is top notch instrumentalism right here. It may not be the hardest thing to do but you bring it with so much emotion, It's outstanding. I love you man.
I'm extravagantly elated to have seen that deadmau5 has mentioned of this very song on his twitter as I just searched up on that, to see if he's seen/heard your masterpieces! I also seen Skrillex has also taken notice! I'll also be letting some of my friends know who are also fans (about your astonishing covers)!! :3 Congratulations!!!!!! You are entirely legendary, professional, & very kind! I look forward to many more of your great works, Evan!!!! :D
***** :D The song, "Some Chords"- Dillon France remix caught my ear! But then, I found out he did "Sofi(a) Needs a Ladder" (hence, The Hangover II movie)- then, I was hooked since! :P Thx to Skrillex tho- if I'd not taken interest in his older music, I'd not have learnt more about deadmau5! :3
After years of listening to this video, I come here to thank Evan for the incredible interpretation. This video was part of many moments of study, I managed to do well in many tests because of the calmness that this video gave me while studying. ✌🏼😁
As a guy that doesn't live in America, I've always thought that Deadmau5 is pretty mainstream and that he has his song played in clubs, radio, and stuff. I never thought that he's actually underrated. I mean, hearing his music I thought that he would be more than just "underrated", I think he makes really good music.
As a passionate music producer since many, many years back, I look up to Deadmau5 as one of the greatest modern musicians. His production is top notch, he's a genious when it comes to composing and writing, and he doesn't limit himself to just one or two genres. He's just great :) And Evan does a brilliant job of interpreting Deadmau5's songs, I love these videos.
Yeah most of songs are just hidden... he is so talented, and he has such a broad range of skill but it doesn't go anywhere near being noticed, because it is different and "doesn't have enough meaning"
Yeah it's wild that electronic music and dubstep, that sort of thing isnt mainstream in the whole country. But in areas where these types of shows are common, deadmau5 is Def well known.
he's underrated in that the average person views him as a club dj in a mouse hat, when in reality he is one of the most talented musicians of our time who produces some really deep and emotionally evocative stuff
I honestly don't really listen to much EDM, but this piece has definitely increased my respect for Dead Mau5. I think being able to use a dissonant chord correctly in music is the epitome of music creation and expression. Around 8:10 is what I'm talking about... I can't convey how much I love this.
I remember getting these exact same goosebumps back when your Strobe video came out. Thank you, Mr. Duffy... it's people like you who remind me that life's beautiful.
Oh, this was already awesome. But your performance makes it 1000x better. I love what you do, and because of people like you - talented people that I've seen on the internet - , I started learning the piano, I'm sure I'm not even close to play like you, but it's one of the things I dream of.
No matter how many times I come back it never gets old. My favorite is still Superbia, it makes me feel warm and happy inside ;-; Can't wait till he gets to those 7 virtues I need more.
I came back here just because I'm learning how to play Gula, and how it's possible to play different octaves with just 2 hands. It's impossible, but Duffy made it by quickly delaying the notes, good one. Thank you!
Great performance. This piece is actually a true masterpiece, and I dont say that lightly. I feel a connection here to composers such as Philiph Glass and arvo part.
Hey Evan. Don’t know if you will read this, but thank you for your amazing work. This and your other compositions have helped me get through quarantine so far. Thank you so much for sharing your talent my man :)
Evan, I've listened to your music for years now and it still makes me think in ways that make sense. Your music makes peace with my mind, it makes me want to play the piano which is what I should have done so many years ago. However, wtf has the video rain gone to? One of my favourites!
I'm really glad I subscribed to you a while back. Anytime I see you do a deadmau5 song I IMMEDIATELY HAVE to listen. Great job. Keep up all the good work!!
Like your interpretation as much as the original, great work!! Love the slow changes in the harmonics and disharmonies. Your instrument has an excellent sound as well.
For some reason im just now finding this! Sooo great!.. Even though they're not part of the EP 7 I woulda really loved to hear Bleed and Pets thrown in there haha!
That's a kind of mean thing to say :p Some of us have spent years on the piano, or whatever instrument is ours.. :) I've played piano since I was 4.. So that makes 11 years now :p after that much time at it, people call me"gifted" but I disagree. I just work hard. I am 100% sure it's the same for Evan :p
i love people who appreciate deadmau5 for his musicality i hate people who say its so repetitive and long and boring because they don't understand how music works
Deadmau5 is electronic classic music
🙂
Right on. Just got a midi keyboard to learn piano tunes. Love 777. Joel is a helluva composer.
Yes my friends are shit lol
Yes exactly
Deadmau5 posted this on his facebook :D
I can't find it :(
+OfficialVanDyce So... he DID discover Evan! :D I know I'm a yr. late, but I'm just now discovering Evan out myself!! :3
Shay Mary yeah it was about time he did haha xD
OfficialVanDyce :P
Hope all of u are good👍🏽🙂
Ira 9:31
Best song, in my opinion. There's just so much emotion in it.
+Giovanni M I really liked Acedia
+Medikleptic me too
Gula though!
superbia is the best
+Giovanni M Go figure! I not only agree, but it's the sin I battle most. -________- I guess this is why this one captures my attention the most. :|
Deadmau5 songs are great at the whole "haha i'm just fucking around with a piano" transition to "lol jk i'm actually really good at this".
Amazing job, it really brought out deadmau5's compositional talent
***** "He uses software to choose his chords for him"
Proof?
***** Said his best friends, who hangs out with him in the studio during tracks's production and also follows him in the dj booth.
NickTEHbau5 He uses XFer Cthulhu, but it doesn't compose a track, just helps you creating a chord progression.
***** That's not true. You need to voice the chords and apply them to different instruments. And in progressive you also need a decent drum track.
I love the missteps on the keys. it gives its character
yes but the mood changes
Sends spoopy shivers. Its nice
Didn’t deadmau5 just write it that way?
@@hellomynameisjoenl I thought that too
I love how you can hear all the sounds in the room, gives it that human touch that isn't in the original songs.
Joel recorded 7 on his actual piano, they were demos for him to write in ableton later. You can tell because at the end of each song you can hear him take the pedal off of the piano. He probably just recorded it in a very small room and added the reverb afterwards.
@@phoenixteargaming There are also some patches that let u play the "pedal" sounds in a piano.
i wish the mic wasnt as noisy tho.
most noise comes simply from pedal plays, since that's the sound of the pedal of a grand piano. - brown noise.@@haipabli7670
Sweet reverberation.
I listen to this when I'm relaxing and when you listen with your eyes closed you can kind of make a story in your mind with the rhythm. not sure if it's just me
i do the same thing
13:42 that's the best part of Ira. Takes an optimistic turn that breaks you from the dark
2nd!
No, you're not.. (: Btw, great job!
so great on a grand
If you have ever played the Portal series, these pieces remind me of the lonely but beautiful atmospheres that were perfectly played out in those games.
i dont care how depressing this sounds i want this played at my funeral whenever i leave this world...
+Michael Lopez for some its depressing, for others its beautiful
+Chris Gamba I think this is beautiful, but if you watch the actual 7 video, it gives you a creepy depressing vibe
It's super good man gives me goose bumps every time
Chris Gamba It's just beautifully depressing
Franporky19 I think it's depressingly beautiful! ;)
I can feel your empathy with every light touch of the keys. Playing with the heart & soul will bring every string of the piano alive vibrantly. Keep playin' Evan Duffy... Ur Awesome ! .. ^_^

***** Only 2 out of 100+! O.o But 1 has been a fan since 2008, another 1 became a late fan like me in 2015! :p
***** :D The song, "Some Chords"- Dillon France remix caught my ear! But then, I found out he did "Sofi(a) Needs a Ladder" (hence, The Hangover II movie)- then, I was hooked since! :P

Breathtaking.
+Owiko7 listen to the original ;)
Medikleptic i have...
Beautiful performance of a beautiful piece!
After years of listening to this video, I come here to thank Evan for the incredible interpretation.
This video was part of many moments of study, I managed to do well in many tests because of the calmness that this video gave me while studying.
✌🏼😁
Great performance, the 2nd piece was hard and you did a very good job Evan!
Listened to this Master Piece for almost 5 hours straight on loop. What an inward journey!!!
Deadmau5

Gula
Wtf justo estaba buscando eso, me leíste la mente viajero del tiempo
This rendition of Superbia hits my soul
Wow! This is a long one. Looking forward to listening to it all. :3

Godisen007 This isn't an interpretation at all. Original is piano. It's a 7 track playlist (SC) and a single track on his channel.
Yeah most of songs are just hidden... he is so talented, and he has such a broad range of skill but it doesn't go anywhere near being noticed, because it is different and "doesn't have enough meaning"

Of all the EDM songs that I've heard in the past several months, this on is the best.
Thanks Evan!
Snare wires for the “prepared” piano sound win!
I remember getting these exact same goosebumps back when your Strobe video came out. Thank you, Mr. Duffy... it's people like you who remind me that life's beautiful.
After years I'm here again to see this unbelievable performance
Evan, anyone told you lately that you're awesome?
Anytime a good pianist plays deadmau5 on a piano you understand how much of a music beast he is!
Oh, this was already awesome. But your performance makes it 1000x better. I love what you do, and because of people like you - talented people that I've seen on the internet - , I started learning the piano, I'm sure I'm not even close to play like you, but it's one of the things I dream of.
Superbia is the most replayed here. Definitely seems to be the favourite of the 7. 👌🏻
I've been subscribed to you for well over a year and i can honestly say i can never be disappointed by your talent.
Incredible.
No matter how many times I come back it never gets old. My favorite is still Superbia, it makes me feel warm and happy inside ;-;
Can't wait till he gets to those 7 virtues I need more.
This suite always makes me feel better. Thx Evan for your performance, perfect as usual !
I love the melancholy

Awesome!
Absolutely amazing so far, great work!
This is really a transporting piece of work, both compositionally and in terms of your performance Evan. bravo.

Well done Evan. Brings a totally different perspective to an already awesome song
Hey Evan. Don’t know if you will read this, but thank you for your amazing work. This and your other compositions have helped me get through quarantine so far. Thank you so much for sharing your talent my man :)

It's just a dissonant chord.
+SidiceProductions Same here dude haha
The wait was worth, Brilliant work evan !
Love deadmau5 because of his melody, and you brought that up so well!
Simply Outstanding.
That is a beautiful sounding Steinway B!
Evan, I've listened to your music for years now and it still makes me think in ways that make sense. Your music makes peace with my mind, it makes me want to play the piano which is what I should have done so many years ago. However, wtf has the video rain gone to? One of my favourites!

Simplesmente Perfeito
Such a masterpiece
Time to study
im studying aswell :D
Same here
So...awesome..
this kind of skill can not be learned, only gifted
That's a kind of mean thing to say :p
Some of us have spent years on the piano, or whatever instrument is ours.. :) I've played piano since I was 4.. So that makes 11 years now :p after that much time at it, people call me"gifted" but I disagree. I just work hard. I am 100% sure it's the same for Evan :p
Complete bullshit, the only reason he can play so well is because of hard work and alot of practise for many years.
Lol it can.
This is wicked.
That was amazing thx!
Thank you for the musical boner
superb
GREAT - Thanks Evan !!
Dude ! this is amazing !
It is amazing !
amazing...
Ty Evan! Beautiful
One thing I don't like in this video is that I can't give it more likes... Ugh.
Seriously - genius!
This is very well done.
