Pecan spatula

  • I’ve been watching a lot of Richard Raffan videos lately and saw him making spatulas in couple. I was inspired to try them and this is actually the third one I’ve made. I also need the practice with my skew which has been the most difficult tool to master. I’m getting better but still have a long way to go.
    WARNING! This is unedited and during sanding it gets really loud due to my shop vac running. Hope you get something of value from this video. Thanks for watching! 😁

    A couple additional thoughts on spatulas… they are great way to get more from the wood you get. I process all my turning wood from firewood so I end up with pith sections and I’ve wanted to do something with these pieces. I also learned that you need to use straight grain blanks. I attempted to make couple others that had knots in them and both of those either broke or had large pieces fall out.
