- Taylor Swift burned the Lover House on stage during The Eras Tour. A lot of people have been saying this may hint toward her breakup with Joe Alwyn but a wanted to feature a different take that I feel really makes a lot more sense.

for me this is totally the point, she doesn't make Easter eggs about her personal life, this is her saying goodbye to her old eras and starting a next chapter , as you say she archived another extremely big chapter on her career and from here we're just going up
That's what I thought initially and I still do even after finding out about the break up. While I've mixed feelings about her replacing Invisible Strings with The 1 in the setlist, the theory that she burned down the house because of the break up is absurd to me.

That really makes sense now. I remember Taylor being very desperate and thinking that Lover might be her last Grammy nomination but then she released folklore and became the first female artist to ever win three Grammy for Album of the year and after that she became unstoppable.
an absolute boss. folklore/evermore changed her career more than just from a musical creation perspective and it got me rlly into taylor swift too!!
I truly did believe the Taylor's Version of albums wouldn't be as successful if not for folklore/evermore rollout because old Swifties (people who were missing the lyricism Taylor had in her earlier albums) became interested in her again and the general public became more accepting towards her artistry

People are also forgetting that concerts need planning so it is bizarre to think that Taylor would just come up one day and say “I want to change the schedule and make everybody go crazy to make something that takes a week to get done happen in 48h just because my relationship has ended and even though I like to keep my private life private and hate people speculating about my love life I want to cause a global commotion so people stop paying attention to my amazing tour and start talking about my private life”

Also, about the renaissance thing and Lover being thought of as her last “big” album-it totally was gonna be! Her sales were decreasing, the general public didn't have a positive overall opinion of her persona or (even) her artistry, and the media was starting to pay less and less attention to her. It totally was gonna be the end of her hegemony as a popstar. The pandemic albums absolutely saved her longevity as an artist. She is fucking unstoppable now-everybody loves her, praises her lyrics (possibly the one thing that she cares about from the media!?!?!), is engaged in what she's doing, encourages her to explore new endeavors... It is absolutely insane. And none of it would be possible without Folklore and Evermore. Absolutely cemented her as a one-in-a-million lyricist and artist in Hollywood.

Yes indeed! Those two amazing albums finally brought me into the flock of Taylor fans. I also know a lot of older people my age and up felt the same. There is a timelessness to the songs in those. I didn't like Midnights at first, but then realized they were also genius and I love it now! She has nothing, or no one holding her back now. This will be her guilded age. I'm so happy for her success. She worked hard to get it.
Midnights & the eras tour is definitely not the end. We know she’s working on her feature film, so perhaps we’ll see more of that kinda stuff in the next couple of years? I also definitely think we’ll get more music in the future, along with the re-recordings :)

Let's keep it real, Mike screwed up royally but still has fan demand years after he departed this world. Taylor might just be the one out of the MJ, Beatles and Elvis club (those are her only peers) to keep her act together and ultimately outshine them all.

I interpreted it as a nod to re-recording her albums. She’s breaking free of any hold Scott Borshetta and Scooter had on her. Particularly the lyrics from “My Tears Ricochet” resonate with me when she says, “And if I’m on fire, you’ll be made of ashes too”. Thus, burning down the Lover house.
I thought it represents how her Lover Tour was cancelled. There is this lyric from mirrorball: “And the called of the circus burned the disco down“. I remember Taylor said somewhere that this lyric is about the Lover Tour which got cancelled due to Covid.
It represents her rerecordings at the moment.

I love this idea like her life isn’t just her relationships and her voice has only just fully developed and I can’t wait to see what she doesn’t in the future
I think that she is making this tour like her greatest hits and that she will not be singing her older songs as much anymore. Midnights is outside the house so I think she will do some of it. But as with any artist, you have to move on from your older music and make new stuff. It’s just going to be a new Era! My personal feelings are that this is giving time for Joe, who is younger time to mature into a committed relationship and get his career back on course after Warner Brothers could not just apologize and the-hire Johnny Depp and cancelled the rest of Fantastic Beasts. They have been together pretty much all the time over the last six years. From her taking time away because she was devastated by horrible reports and Scooter Braun and was going to retire like in her song “The Lucky One”! But Joe was there and she realized her true self was good enough and then the pandemic they were quarantined together and she re-recorded albums, wrote three more and then the world started opening again. Joe is shy and private and Taylor is a fun ball of energy, but those differences led to both going okay, who are we now without each other every single day. Can we make a lifetime commitment that will last. I think that is what this is I believe. All of us Swifties know how much Taylor loves friends and I just feel like they are in a break like Rachel and Ross, they probably still talk but while this tour is happening, I think they will use this time to either miss each other so much that she sneaks through the garden gate and screams “I love you ain’t that the worst thing you heard”, or we were there for a reason and a season but we are not lifetime material and it is just not worth both of us going through that heartache. I feel like they will get back together and I pray that they are both okay. I pray that they get back together because I think with some work, they can still be private. Swifties can see to that. Instead of hollering for Joe to give Taylor a message but say nothing about his accomplishments, that stings a man’s ego, or taking selfies with him because of Taylor... at least say you like his movies or he is a great actor. Respect them both for their individuality and then say you think they are great and cute together. Be like the crowd the other night. No one shouted any questions and it was so refreshing. Swiftie power is strong. If they are meant to be, then if you’re a Swifties and see Joe somewhere, just make it about him like they did with Taylor. We can help them both find the happy ending (nothing is ever perfect and it’s not happily ever after, but being in a relationship where you both can argue and then be okay again then that’s showing a long term commitment that will stand the test of time and that’s as happy as any of us can hope for.❤🙏

I like this. I like it because there will be another chance for me to see her live in the future. I can’t go to the eras tour (at least I don’t think I will) and seeing everyone go…well…you know. So hopefully I can go to an international concert or her next tour. No matter what, I love her and her music. I hope she’s doing well ❤

She wanted to forget all the stealing that Scooter did to her 6 albums and she will make rerecord those 6 albums like creating another Lover Houses out of the Ashes right from the start.

love this! but i have to say that the house she burned isn’t the lover house, it’s not build the same way as the lover house (if you look closely)…
She sings Wildest Dreams ("someday when you leave me i hope these memories will follow you around") then burns Lover House, then sings Bad Blood, the first song that Joe heard of hers on his trip to LA (invisible string: "Bad was the blood of the song in the cab on your first trip to LA"). Lover House was never really about her albums (she never even knew folklore and evermore would ever come to fruition by that time), so I don't think this theory makes the most sense. xD The house has always been about her and Joe's relationship.
In the eras tour is obvious she took the lover house as a representation for her eras

Tay has tried breaking up with him before (Cornelia Street, The Archer, Afterglow, False God, The Great War) and I guess he always said No… until recently (ie before she toured). Bottom line, no one likes what happened but it was coming.
I think that’s definitely the case. Midnights as a whole album really sums up Taylor’s evolution musically with a lot of references to her previous projects, but also is an opening of a whole new chapter of her career. Her making the Eras Tour now makes a whole lot of sense, because it basically serves as the big ending of the certain “era” in her career. TS11 and newer projects would be “the new age”.

I've always paralleled her career trajectory to Mariah Carey. Although Taylor never had a low point (Mariah's Glitter), I feel like it's bound to happen at some point (gosh, I hope not) But at 35, Mariah bounced back with the biggest come back (arguably of all time) with the Emancipation of Mimi. Ageism is such a sad thing occuring in their industry and I just hope that we are heading towards a point that age is no longer synonymous to the amount of air play one artist gets. Mariah Carey has a tremendous talent in song writing but for example, her last album was panned because she's in her 50s. These days, it's all the plastic and silicone dolls that are getting the spotlight, I hope we never forget real talents.

I like this take better than the breaking up with Joe interpretation. Burning it down because of a breakup is too boring and on-the-nose, and I'd like to think that Taylor Swift seeks greater symbolism and meaning in what she does.
Honestly, this fits more in line with the initial thoughts of midnights as the sky in the background and taylor on the cover of midnights with a lighter.

I hate that all that people care about is her relationship status. But I need to be honest and say, when I heard the news, it was like a real life fairy tale had been destroyed. I found myself I dialyzing their relationship, especially because of the wedding vows bridge in lover, and I so desperately wanted the traditional love story to be true and someday happen to me too. But, with Taylor’s midnights album, she has made it clear that she doesn’t want to be seen as a one night or a wife. And I feel like you have to be a strong female to get to that place. I find myself taking comfort in the fantasy of a man taking care of me for the rest of my life. Whereas Taylor knows she’s always been on her own, meaning not just in a bad way but also in an empowered way.

My hope for the next album is that she uses this as an opportunity to take it deeper and broader than just breakup songs, like amidst breakups and failures and fears and aging and malicious things done to you, the mentality/energy of how do you remain okay? Strong? True and confident in who you are without that result working out? What's really yours to keep? How do you manage to pull ahead with the highest character/determination still? I want her fire, a self-empowerment album :)
Taylor has also said that what goes on stage requires a lot of planning too. If the rumors are true that they broke up weeks ago, it wouldn’t make sense that she’d suddenly decide to buen the livers house. No, those things require planning and time.
It doesn’t mean that she won’t perform any of the songs on her old albums it just won’t be about those albums anymore
The Eras tour is her looking back at a time in her past that is full of heart break and make up and saying that it is time for a new chapter. Also, those albums that she performed in the eras tour are the last time that she is ever going to tour for those albums

I agree with this, but I want I take it a step further. She will continue to create music, but she will no longer be creating new eras. I think -like you said - it's limiting. It's probably also time consuming and exhausting to recreate a new character every time. I think she's going to continue to put out music just as normal Taylor.

I think it's more related to the fact that she had to sort of "burn" or destroy the idea of her old albums, her children, as she likes calling them, to rerecord. No matter how powerful she must have felt, they are her entire life's work and had to completely taint their image to the public. To this day every swiftie feels sort of guilty for listening to an original song when it has it's TV out.

I'm just saying that, based on my opinion and how fans/media are reacting to her right now, Taylor is the only one in the same league as Elvis, The Beatles and Michael Jackson (primarily in the two years after Thriller's release). Adele, Perry, Gaga. They're all good. Very good. But to put them in that league with the all-time greats isn't realistic.
