I'd like to hear about the legend of Tia Tephi and the Prophet Jeremiah. This was amazingly good. Surprised me. I'm part Irish, too, so it interests me greatly.

Has Ireland really broken free from British rule? In the civil war after partition, the Free State forces cracked down on anti-Treaty forces with support from the British state in terms of weapons, strategies and intelligence. And obviously the links did not just evaporate. Then of course there is the whole question of the Troubles (1969 - 1994) and the very construction of the statelet of Northern Ireland. So a more honset perspective might be how Ireland lessened the control of Britain.

Ireland's break from British rule was complicated. While the Free State initially got British support during the civil war, those ties faded over time.
Despite the Troubles and Northern Ireland's creation, Ireland made moves towards full independence. With the recent election in Northern Ireland showing a shift towards parties favoring closer ties with the Republic, there might be more changes ahead. Cheers!

We never got Economic independence till 1973...... when Ireland joined the E.E.C.

News flash: The Irish Catholics are winning in Northern Ireland. Over the past 40 years, the Irish mothers are out producing the Scotch-Irish Protestant mother in babies. The Catholics are on the verge of out populating the Protestant.
In a few more years, the Catholics will be the majority.
There was another time when the Irish mothers saved the Irish. The English had pushed the Irish to the worst land in Ireland. This land was rocky and could hardly grow anything.
Then some Basque Fisherman brought potatoes to the Irish mothers. Since the Irish men had to work the Plantations. It was up to the woman the tend to the garden, raise the children, feed the pigs, milk the cow, and chickens.
The potatoes saved the Irish. They could grow lots of potatoes for the family, and the pigs. The pigs could be sold for cash to buy a cow for buttermilk, chickens for eggs.
The family got strong on a diet of pork, eggs, buttermilk and and potatoes. Because of Ireland warm climate. They could raise potatoes almost year round, and potatoes stored very well.
This all created a population explosion. The Irish population reached 8 million before the potatoe fame.
It was the efforts of the mothers of Ireland.
