Video I shot in September 2020 from a dairy farm near Fort Wayne Indiana as they chop Sorghum Sudan Grass with their Avco New Idea Uni System equipped with a New Idea 767 Super Chopper and 866 pickup header. Sure would be nice to see a Uni with a snowblower. Didn't know they made that attachment. What's really nice to see is all the tier 0 tractors running.

There's all sorts of vintage machinery I've never seen before that I now can thanks to the people who keep this old machinery going. More power to their elbow
👍 neighbors got 2 one with a six row corn head on it and 1 with the Gm we combined a lot of corn with that ole UNI it’s still on his farm hasn’t used them for a few years Iam sure they will still run thou thanks Mike great drone footage
I worked on a sweet corn picking crew at Whitby Ontario when Stokelys had a cannery there in the 80s had 2 uni systems with picking elevator units. Kind of so so machines but always survived the season. 2 machines over 4000 acres for the 2 of them.

great video . I have the same setup for opening field in central ontario , also have a 704 with a 500 gal. vicon sprayer with 60 ft booms it has a 400 cubic in V6 gm gas in it .
Man that uni was hungry! Looked like a lot of material going through at any given time. Takes quite a bit of power to chop that sorghum Sudan.
Mike I am 30 year retired Sailor and drank black coffee for years. But when I retired from the navy I think I proven my mettle, now I take cream and sweetener. Nothing left to prove!

Nice. We ran a uni system, I believe at had a v6 GMC gasser around 400 cubic inches. We had a corn chopper and a sheller for it. Thanks for the video.
Love the old equipment still getting the job done. I had a 200 allis I baled hay with.
As a kid Dad had a 703 Unisystems with a big GM V-6 in it I think it had a 713 or 715 combine unit and 4 row 38” corn head 13’ platform. Worked pretty good as I remember.

Thanks, I did get a little footage of my snowmobiling in Idaho and Utah. I'll try to get that video up soon. And yes I need to get out there to see the potato and beet harvest.

You did'nt need a lap top to work on it. I owned a 706 Uni with the 354 non turboed perkins in it. Had a 737 husking bed, 717 Combine, and a 729A sheller. It was a good outfit. I have been to Witmer,s to buy Uni parts, about 30 years or so ago.
Pretty decent shape for its age. Do you know if the rear wheel assist was standard equipment on those or did they by any chance add that as an aftermarket option? This may be the first Uni-system I’ve seen with rear wheel assist. Pretty cool to see where we’ve come from, when you see how monstrous and fast, current John Deere and Claas choppers are & run. The cool thing is that it’s still getting it done!

That was one great video. Never seen a White tractor here in the UK - in fact I don' think there are any over here. Their might be the odd M-M, pre WW2 and wartime models, but all the other stuff, (apart from some Allis tractors and that 'towed' NH forage cutter), I've never seen before in our Country. - One Question :- How tall is that Silo and how is it fixed to the ground.
Mike. The historical society put on a get together every year for the New Idea factory. Check it out. A lot of good history and memorabilia etc. especially with the Uni’s as well as the manure spreaders and White Tractors that were built there. My grandpa was a traveling engineer for there manure spreader division back in the 40’s.

Hey Mike: Could you explain in a future video how the silage is blown to the top of the silo up so high? Is it air pressure or is there an auger inside that vertical tube on the side of the silo, or something else?
You answered it yourself, silage blower. The blower has large paddles that turn fast and throw it up the tube then air pressure pushes it up.
