Also, it would've been a cute reference to the first episode: she carries a bag containing all her worldly possessions, and tells Matthew she has to carry it a certain way or it will burst.

I'm waiting till I forget the show more to rewatch it again so that I feel as close as I felt the first time.. I never rewatch movies or series but this one dude it's definitely worth it
I hope they do Avonlea next, I love the originals, but this series has so much more historical commentary, and I am HERE for it - and the Love Story too.

But really - and he was a very unusual man in this - he wanted an equal partner. He got the only one! I think that when he got sick, Anne realised that Gilbert was her only equal, too.
I watched the hole show for the second time and my brother walks in RIGHT BEFORE THIS SENE AND TALKS ALLL THE WAY TILL THE CREDITS WE WAS LIKE “ what’s that?” “Why is he running?” “Who is she?” IM JUST LIKE SHUTTTTT
That's only natural. There are many different versions of this story and they're all canon apparently. Cramming a 7-year (?) slow burn romance into 81 hours of television was always going to lead to shortcuts :)
