When they finished and we're out looking for jobs all of the companies were hiring people from overseas and India so they could pay them a fraction of what highly educated Americans would be paid.
That is good to know. A few years ago I read that they should be teaching kids in grade school the basics of coding. Just very simple coding would enable children to understand it better when they start taking more advanced coding classes.
If we want our democracy we have to make a college education free for everyone instead of burying them in debt for the rest of their lives. Instead of bailing out the CEOs and banks, bail out our educated students by forgiving the loans that were incurred for a college education that is so necessary for our democracy.

USA needs to Invest in education starting with primary school and make a college education affordable. They will not compete internationally if this continues. Graduate school programs in math, science, and engineering are filled with foreign students mostly because they come in from their countries equipped with those skills or background and this is not only from Asia, but also from middle east and third world countries. In a work environment, those skills are hard to fill. Let us come up with solutions to resolve issue.

Historically, K-12 has been educationally behind other countries, but college in the US is far more rigorous and advanced. Students in college catch up and surpass students in other counties by the time they finish their Bachelor’s Degree. Then Graduate School at the University level provides some of the most advanced education in the world. That’s why students from all over the world come here. The real question isn’t why other countries surpass the US in primary education. It is why we have developed it that way. The skills, expertise, and money is a there, so it isn’t a lack of resources.

I once knew someone who hired people for high tech in Portland/Beaverton. He said the wanted to hire citizens, but there were not enough qualified people and thus my neighborhood had large numbers of Indians and other talent from outside the USA. These people were wonderful neighbors so that isn’t the problem. Our poor education is depressing and the problem.

The education system is terrible here in the US it doesn’t prepare you for college at all. I did really well in high school and college was a shell shock for me lol. I didn’t even know how to write a paper before I went to college I had to figure it out on my own lol. I got right into a 4 yr school but it was really difficult. And Graduate school is extremely difficult you have no life and can’t even watch tv, it too much reading, too much testing, and too many papers and it the wrong way to learn anything.

Many students go to community college due to cost. You can save tens of thousands of dollars transferring to university with an AA. The quality of the general ed classes in CC is just as good as university. The student/instructor ratio is smaller

So many have a false notion of public education in this country. First of all, we don't have a national education system. Each state is responsible for the education of its residents. The Federal Government aids the states with funds, guidelines, etc. No one can say that education is failing in our country. You can say that California has a better system of language acquisition than Alabama, for example. You can say that New York has a developed technology program while Iowa has a developed agricultural education in place. In comparison to other countries, the U.S. has an emphasis on process and application as opposed to fact retention and speed accuracy. There is a lot to the systems from state to state. Education in the U.S. is provided to all, but learning is up to the individual. ✌️💙👍
