Hahaha gettin old sucks!!! My best friend and I got back from his moose hunt last night and both of us are suffering this morning!!!! We shot the moose opening day after about 10 miles of walking and calling. We walked out after deciding to haul him out the next morning but we went back to camp and grabbed the support crew and headed back in to gut moose out and prep him for over night stay in woods. Then yesterday morning we went in and with capsaicin winch, 4wheeler and some saws we managed to get him out in 4hrs. Now 25yrs ago that was actually the fun part and have way enjoyable. Now at 50yrs old that wasn’t really a bad experience but it was more of a chore!!!! Now we both have muscles we forgot we had and yes my truck is a disaster as we had rain, snow and sleet all day so truck has a nice coating of mud from the logging rds and our gear is all soaked and smells like nasty rutting moose!!!!! It’s a good smell as it’s the odor of victory but is off putting any other time. Was great father son hunt where both shot same time with there bows and smashed a monster Maine moose and to top it off we had it all on two different camera angles. The mess, the soreness and the cleanup afterwards are all worth the memories!!!!!
I hear ya, got our moose in SEPT. Hunted all week. I keep a step ladder in the truck. It’s not a particularly hard hunt but it’s always a very tough recovery. Always good to have extra bodies in camp.
@@jrhunt414 so this was around the 100 moose hunt I’ve been on in ME, NH and New Brunswick and it’s never any different for us. Truck looks like a tornado afterwards. Doesn’t matter if we are guiding someone, doing self hunt killing moose 4miles deep or on side of an accessible rd it’s always a mess. It’s a bit easier on truck if we quarter it up to get it out but most people in this neck of the woods want it out whole so typically beating a truck is part of the game too.
As a Board Certified Doctor of Holistic Health, I can tell you that your pain is not just due to recent lifting activities or simply getting older. It also has a lot to do with the food you have in your front seat. The artificial colors, flavor/texture chemicals, carbohydrates and sugar all contribute to chronic inflammation. The body does not know what these substances are and are shown to not only be harmful but also damage your gut lining allowing large particles to enter your bloodstream which is not good. Imagine the amount of ingredients in the foods you are eating that have never been a part of human biology and how this stimulates the inflammatory immune response. What happens over time is that the body becomes overwhelmed trying to identify, destroy and remove the foreign substances especially when there is no end to the supply of foreign substances. This triggers the body to lose its ability to heal and repair damaged tissue. This causes chronic inflammation which causes the body's immune system to lose its ability to know the difference between self and other foreign substances which causes the immune system to damage the tissue of the body. The damage to muscle tissues makes muscles more susceptible to injury which leads to sore muscles after strenuous activity that heal slower. This is pain! Choose an anti-inflammatory diet lifestyle consisting of whole foods, consistent activity, low stress, supplements and healthy detox. Avoid the middle of the grocery store. Doing this will help your body eliminate foreign substances inducing healthier weight, strength, flexibility, energy, cognitive function, and immunity. #BigBuckInTheTruck2024

I purchased a hiking frame pack two years ago on marketplace for like $25 (Cabelas brand). I can't believe how much easier it makes carrying everything in. I wished I had the insight long time ago to get one. I've since purchased a waist belt from a military surplus store to use with just my Assault when just carrying it solo.
Gotta work on that fitness brother. I too struggle with the fitness as I get older. Right now I'm slipping. The worse shape I'm in the more back problems, knee problems and old aches and pains bother me. Nothing but love brother. Please don't take it the wrong way.
Hi,Jason how are the straps that are holding your stand on your kuiu 2300 after rubbing on your 1.0 stand are they frayed yet? My .5 was eating them up.
I use gloves to hang the stands and walk in and out when its cold. But when on stand I prefer to use a hand warmer muff. I dont like to shoot with gloves on.

Get you some KleenKanteen SS bottles and abandon those plastic bottles. They are heavier but, they don't produce estrogen like plastic.
Plastic does not produce estrogen.
