Hi Tom! I have been living in the beautiful city of Ankara for as long as I can remember and one thing I suggest remembering is that cities in Turkey (especially large ones like Ankara) have crowded districts far from the city center (the one you were looking at was Kecioren with an enormous population). Looking at a huge chunk of buildings doesn't necessarily mean that you are looking towards the city center.
Other than that keep up the good work!
    Cheers from Ankara, Turkey

The Szczecin round was very funny. Matejko was a Polish painter and street signs are like this in many Polish cities. (They make the surname bigger, so it's easier to see and the signs are parallel to the streets.)

  • @ObatolceTV

Ok guys, I actually did the perfect score. Here's how I got the last two rounds:
4th round: Found the hints for Ankara and then looked for the pretty distinctive big empty area being confined to the southeast by a straight road and with a single tall building in the opposite direction. I found a spot that seemed to correlate and when checking for the businesses I found "RE-AR Serigrafi" both on the map and on the picture.
5th round: Recognized the language as Hebrew and found the flag. I identified it as the rainbow flag which made me thinkTel-Aviv, because it's a very progressive part of Israel. I then compared the street patterns (a big boulevard in an east-west direction), which also perfectly matched with what I saw in the map. The rest was just hard work. What did it for me in the end was the combination of the "Allora" and "Hashdera" restaurants and the juice stand in the middle of the street.
I'm really proud of myself right now, this is like the second time or so I ever beat you and then making a perfect score on top is just the cherry on top. :D
    Good luck next time!

Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi means Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. That building in front of you was a "yurt", meaning dorm. In Turkey you'll get city names on buses and governmental buildings, maybe on commercial vehicles. They are usually at the beginning of the writing. I am impressed, you actually know some things about Turkey, would definitely recommend learning more about it.

when it comes to street signs in poland, (it might help you in the future) at the bottom it says in what district of the city you are, (f.g centrum, which means city centre btw) at the top with the smaller letters is usually first name of person that the street is named after(or if it's named after some organization or anything else that is not a human it says ,,ulica'' which means street) and the main part is the actuall street name. also coloring of the signs are different in major cities, for example in my home city, warsaw, sings are blue and red, in szczecin they're green and blue etc.

    25000 Points! Yesssss!
    First two rounds ez.
Brussels took me quite a while (about 20min). I just couldn't find that damn bar.
Ankara took ages (about 40min). I looked for streets that correlate and actually found this big building (name matched) and went for it, although none of the shop names matched and the street was missing. (Was actually a whole building off, like 45m, but i still got the full 5000).
And in the last round i was kinda lucky. I saw hebrew writing all over the place, so it had to be Israel. But i wasn't sure which city it is, so i just guessed Tel Aviv since it had to be a big city. So i just checked if any street would match this angle and park in the middle. Finally found this Allora place and got it. (Must have also cost me a good 20mins).

I searched my ass for that street, and when I finally found it I was happy that the compass corelated to the streets in that area. If it weren't for that missing road in Ankara I am sure you would have gotten a perfect score. You would been more motivated for the last round if you had gotten the first 4 perfect. The last round wasn't actually super hard, although I wasn't able to be 100% sure that I was in the right place, I mostly had to guess based on the park in the middle of the road and direction/curve of the road. Which probably would have made for a suspenseful final guess if you were still in the running for a perfect score.

Another thing about street signs in Poland is that they are always parallel to the street they are referring to. So if you were looking at the Matejki street (ulica) sign it wasn't referring to the street closest to it but the one that's parallel to the sign. I don't know but maybe that's the thing in other countries as well.

The Ankara round was so troll. Never would have expected it to be that far inside the city, what with all that empty space. Then again, you got really lucky on Phuket. I scanned the area for several minutes and couldn't find the grocery store. Same thing happened in Brussels, because I was too focused on the name Delhaize, which wasn't on the map after all - still got 4999 points there. Nailed Szczecin and Tel Aviv though. Over 24900 points is Not Bad(tm) in my book.

I'm sorry you couldn't get a perfect score, but you still had a great one! One tip as an Israeli, if you see hebrew or the Israeli flag it likely won't be anywhere else in the world but Israel, however it's very common to see Arabic in Israel. Granted' that palestinian flag was unusual for Tel Aviv. (please no hate comments)

24987, must say I'm pretty happy with that score myself. 5k first 3 rounds and the Ankara round killed me. Basically no clues in terms of shops and I couldn't be bothered searching around all day. Last round I was just annoyed and clicked somewhere in Tel-Aviv almost right away after I saw what I thought was Hebrew. Not a bad score but still so close to 25k :(

Brussels Bar Archipel, well that's an easy one. Belgium, Brussels. After 10 minutes i couldn't find Archipel, so i clicked on Mannekin Pis. 4998 Points.

Almost perfect score except that #4 did load the previous picture for me. (newbie here, did not have a clue what to do) And after that I did not try that hard on the last one, so I lost 8 points clicking on the southern end of the same boulevard. Wow, such a nice maps. Was able to get 24,965 , Ankara round got me, i thought city was in the north. 1st round was pretty easy, city name + mall + big roundabout. Poland one was a bit tricky, i was searching for rails, but i guess they are showed only on case of dedicated routes. So i actually found theatre and than tram stations and finally stration name. Belgium one i was desperatly looking and did not find place, randomly clicked at city centre and was 30 meters away). In Tel Aviv i found street with pedastrian zone between lines heading to sea and that was it. So far my best map!

your "Matejki" pronunciation is good! (Jan Matejko is a Polish painter) In signs with street names, that word at the bottom is often (but not always) the name of the city zone where the street is places - so Centrum just means center or a zone named like that.
+ in the sign 'ulica Jana' is small because it's not really important information. ulica means street and Jan is the name. But 'Matejki' is the surname so it's more important and recognized.
