Hi! These days I would choose to use a 10% NaOH solution instead as it is less likely to conflict with the rest of the formulation, and is generally a more useful ingredient to have on hand. Please can you explain the difference between ect and ultra? I know ultra is powder form and has extra moisturisation but how do you decide which preservative you want to use?
Ok...I have a question. Freshly made distilled water has a pH of 7, but drops down to 5.0-5.5 after a while because of interaction with carbon dioxide. How can we get an accurate reading if we don't have access to freshly distilled water?

The quiet non paraben preservative that's affordable in here is phenoxyethanol but I've read your blog on preservatives and it makes me hesitant to use phenoxyethanol as my preservatives. I mean I don't want any mold, bacteria and fungus to get to my product :( but is phenoxyethanol that less effective?

I didn’t include one because this is “super simple” and I was trying to keep the ingredient list as short as possible. You certainly can include an antioxidant if you like, and it will extend the shelf life of the oils, but it’s not an absolute must, especially if you’re just making 100g at a time-you should use it up well before rancidity becomes a concern 🙂 Happy making!

I don't mind unnatural things as long they were tested, but i always prefer natural ingredients, I think my skin love them

I don't think that sensation would be caused by cetyl alcohol, which has a pretty dry feel. Was this one of my formulations?

No; they're both part of the larger Geogard line, but they're different.
