Author commentary: Paula Santo on "Cold endoscopic mucosal resection versus cold snare polypectomy for colorectal lesions: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials"
Cold endoscopic mucosal resection (C-EMR) for colorectal lesions was compared with cold snare polypectomy (CSP) in this meta-analysis, including seven randomized controlled trials, involving 1556 patients and 2287 polyps. There was no difference between C-EMR and CSP in complete or en bloc resection risk, nor adverse events for removal of polyps less than10mm or equal or more than 10mm. Procedure time was significantly longer for C-EMR. Both endoscopic resection techniques can safely and effectively be performed for colorectal lesions.
