@@SmoothJazzDecember Talking about the 2016 research which was carried out by renowned pediatrician and epidemiologist Jacob John into the AES, Dr Shah shares, “Everyone is conveniently blaming litchis and misinterpreting the findings of the study that was done. People must know that the real culprit is malnutrition and not litchi. If you look at the profile of children who have succumbed to the brain fever or who are reporting symptoms, you’d know they all belong to the poorest of poor families and roam around the litchi orchards in this terrible heat wave the whole day eating whatever they can find, unripe, raw or rotten litchis. They go back home and sleep empty stomach, and wake up in the morning reporting serious AES symptoms.” The doctor also points out that if litchi alone is to be blamed for the deaths, then how come there are no death cases in the urban Muzaffarpur.
To put it clearly, the member of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics adds, litchi contains a toxin called MCPG, which can lead to drop in the sugar levels of malnourished children (called hypoglycemia), and that is why if a healthy child eats litchi, he will not suffer from AES. So litchi is just a triggering factor and not a reason in itself.

Nice video I got a lychee tree on my yard for about 5 years it wasn't from a seedling it was bought from a nursery the problem is it doesn't give fruit any tips to help me out thank you
A litchi plant grown from a seed can take up to 25 years to produce fruit, assuming that it even fruits to begin with. This is no guarantee it will ever produce fruits. This is why you should go for an air-layered plant which can give fruit in less than 5 years.
Very nice detailed video. Only if u could show the actual lychees grown from small tiny baby lychee to a full grown ripe lychee... Do put up that video also to show us how the actual lychee looks like on a plant.

Thank you. Just one small correction.. there is very little protein in lychee.
That's no different from most fruits, which typically have little protein. That's not their benefit to human health; it's that they're high in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Perhaps I missed it, but I heard no mention of protein in this video.

One of my friend had gifted me a lychee rum produced in Mauritius and I heard the name of the fruit for the first time. I haven't seen or tasted the fruit. That's the reason I haven't yet tasted that rum. Can anyone enlighten me on this one!?

I am from Muzaffarpur, the land of lichi. U can never get fruits from seed. The plant will die automatically after some time. The only way to grow a big tree and getting fruit is air layering.
Plant grown from seed takes time to bear fruit somewhere between 5-8 yrs depending upon the wheather and soil of the area whereas plant grown from air layering bears fruit within 1-2 yr

Ma'am how much time does the lichi plant take to give fruits after seedling
I got the same results but only in three weeks time from seed to a 5” plant. The trick is to use crushed egg shells planted below the seed and feed the plant only rain water and never tap water! Keep the seed moist and the soil temp between 70 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit and they will grow exceedingly fast!

In northern Queensland Australia , My farther grew a lychee tree , it took 7 years , I was young t the time , hope that helps
From cuttings it take only 1 to 2 years but from seed it can take more than 10 years

We called this Chinese variety and this comes little late in session with different foliage structure and honestly the seeds doesn't looks good as well. Also, never heard of propagation using seeds. We used to have Grafting (Kalmi ??) here in Nepal.
With grafting you get fruits within 1-2 year but plants grown from seeds take 6-7 years to bear fruit

- bury seeds 1.2x length of the seed
- orient seeds horizontally
- keep temperature near 30 degrees celsius
- avoid direct sunlight until leaves are visible
30 days later
- allow them to be fully exposed to the sun
- transplant them into individual pots
