Very good idea, I also use this type of sandicwh in many cases using pieces of alucobond or dibond joining 3 or 4 plates. This composite is made up of 2 aluminum plates in 0.3mm and a polyethylene core, adding a total thickness of 3mm. I can assure you that you will achieve a result of a very solid structure and considerable resistance. Once glued, you can machine it with a milling cutter and you will be surprised at the result.

If you want to make it stronger, the spindle should be between the two round bars, and form a triangle such that the center of the spindle forms a 90 degree angle (minimum) between the bars. Keeping it always symmetric (i.e.: 45 degrees + 45 degrees) gets the most out of the rigidity provided by the triangle shape, as it lets you exert same force whenever rotating in one direction or in the other. I'm sure it can even be used to cut metal if you use screws to hold the critical parts (headstock and carriage), and a proper cutting bit. Looking forward to watching your next projects. U could've built a brilliant woodworking lathe out of wood or one for metalwork using metal.. Was it down to having those PVC materials on hand and not having the price of the other materials or was it just to build this for the heck of it, for fun?? If it was just to see if it could work then bro u more than succeeded.. Well done my friend. I'm not knocking what u built but u obviously have real talent so have u thought about building one for woodworking or metalworking?? Now that would be awesome my bro..

1. обороты, 775 20 000+ это много, надо до 2500 2. жесткость, есть люфты. 3. резец, режущая часть, должна быть точно в центральной оси патрона. Ставишь иголку, зажимаешь в патроне и выравниваешь.
