    As a father of man-cubs I understand the distraction...part of life. What is hidden in this video is pure gold. This is what I enjoy most about your channel, the gems. Nobody else talks about the reference and adjacent face and why that's so important. Keep up the good work and keep including the kids. They will be telling their grandkids about you building this barn many, many years from now. By the look of the layout and engineering on this project, this is a 400-500 year barn.

      +Brad Luke I hope so, it's been self engineered so I hope I did it right. The kids are fun distractions.

    What a GREAT video very informative but better still the interaction between you and your daughter is heart warming and something you should show more of. Even with your son. Teaching them as you teach us.
    and a video of her chopping wood would be an awesome video.
    Thanks again for this Great video!!!

    I have a sawmill and I'm considering Doing timber frame when I build my house But I'm undecided. Whatever the case may be I'm thinking of cutting some timbers and letting them dry So my question is Is there a standard size for timbers on a timber frame house Or are all the timbers a little bit different?

    • @TheTradesmanChannel
      @TheTradesmanChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll need to do load calculations to size your timbers. I have a few videos on the subject.

    Geese - 6 - taught the kids where food came from. Never had to cut the lawn that year. Braying bagpipes! 6 of them. Good alarm system though - would not let anything in the yard. Even the bear. Cheers!

    Having spent time on the ground with cattle, I'm a strong supporter of "wear leather, eat steak". Heh heh heh Kids are great. How is they're never cold, anyway? Emma needs some steel toed flip flops to be chopping wood in. Lol. Nice job milling those beams.

    • @TheTradesmanChannel
      @TheTradesmanChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Robert Weiland hello Robert...you are right on the steel toes. I really need to get better with PPE especially with the kids. I wear steel toe boots most of the time and don't even give it a thought.

      +Woke Up out of curiosity, have you just found the channel or are you a regular? That video was a ways back and I wonder what you think of the last couple, is there anything you notice can be improved upon?

    • @TheTradesmanChannel
      @TheTradesmanChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Woke Up I need to get some better equipment, the later videos have been done with an iPhone 7, what a difference compared to the old Nikon I was using. I would skip the non timber framing videos...they are a little rough to watch. Trying to refine my content better.

    I bet you told her the vet was a Doctors too ;O)
    Back in the day I was taught to put a line to the edge of the best side and put a C through it .... then a V on the adjacent face with the bottom of the v touching the end of the line on the best face! This would then be your reference for all measurements! Different continents Similar methods!

      TheTradesmanChannel 2017 yes It is Funny. But kids are smarter then we give them credit for. I can tell you all are tight. I taught my kids (now adults) to do things they didn't want to. Now they can do things others can't. And they thank me for it. It's a great feeling.

  • @thomasarussellsr
