Hi Ian. Very good analysis. I have a palette of 3 yellows, 3 reds, and 3 blues. I've been trying to decide to add a "convenience" green to help me make my landscapes. I use all Winsor Newton Cotman colors. If I were to add ONE green, should it be Hooker's Green (neither the light nor the dark but the regular). If I were to add TWO, should the second one be Phthalo Green Blue Shade (PG7) that Winsor Newton calls "Viridian Hue"? Or what would you suggest? Thanks in advance. cheers.

@@MelkamMengued good question. Hookers is pretty usable. It’s generally brighter than Sap Green so you can pull it warmer/cooler and still have the option to dull it down. Lately, my leaning has been towards as saturated (bright) an option as possible, that way I can go any way I want but I will have to mix. You can always make a pigment duller, but brighter, not so much. With that said, Phthalo Green BS would be where I’d land. I like two greens in my palette right now, the phthalo and Undersea Green. UG is a convenience mixture by Daniel Smith and very similar to what I’d mix for foliage in USK works. Just a bit of a time saver. Ultimately, you need to know what YOU need for your work, and then make the appropriate choices for that. Hope this helps.
