You got me on that part when you mentioned about distant families, Because I've been having dreams about my family as well which is a sign I missed them because we're also distant, Happy new years btw
1:20 I used to feel the feeling you described, of missing the moment while still technically within it but that happened only because I was where I didn't belong. A necessary step on the way (of my life) but ultimately not in resonance with who I truly am. As a note I would like to mentio that I would like you to make a video about your pain meaning how deeply have you experienced pain. I am not really curious of what caused you pain as much as I am interested in your relationship with pain itself. I mention this since I can see that you have experienced pain and you have seemingly let it shape you to an extent, thus your relationship with your pain holds value to me. P.S. I never write notes on my phone.😁
Some really good philosophies here. I think it's great that you are thinking like this and constantly looking for solutions to everything. I've worked through similar things for years and definitely happier with the end result and where I stand in relationships. I love your videos - they're meaningful and insightful. I think accepting rather than expecting is a good quality to have in life. Looking forward to future videos. Haha, my mum talks with her hands - I don;t drive either - never got round to it!
Driving is very liberating. I've had my license since around 1998 and I love it. Esp. since I actually have a decent vehicle for a change (my previous were all lemons). Anyway, love your videos. Keep them going.
Try driving the highways at night, when the roads are empty, but take someone with you. You can gradually move the time up and experience heavier traffic at a slower pace. Look up all the parts of your car, and what things do. The more you learn about your car, the less anxious you'll feel about any potential car issues.
Hi Sarah! I feel like that’s sort of happened to me too before we’re I feel like things happening are already distant and like a memory even before there actually over. I really like your videos they’re so natural and real 😊
Regarding the nostalgia in the moment...I think I know what you mean. You feel the joy of the moment, but you know it will not last. I grew up in a time when pictures (actual physical photographs) meant something. You and your friends or family would take a pic and you would look at that single photo with such nostalgia. And it was a serious feeling. Not something fleeting. Nowadays, we take dozens of pics with our phones and none of them mean anything to us. It's all so disposable. I feel we lost something as technology progressed, some sort of appreciation for our past. Regarding your driving, I knew a woman in her 50s (she was a professor at a local university) who never learned how to drive. Her husband drove her everywhere, and she was dependent on him. Looking back on it, her husband at the time was much older than her. What would she do if something happened to him? Take the bus? It was strange because she had no desire to learn how to drive. Just some random thoughts.
I grew up with family photo albums as well. I miss them. I took the bus for a long time & I felt very independent. Nothing wrong with that. I think people judge too much. If someone gets to the place they need to be, that’s all that matters. I just personally would like to be able to get myself around.
@@SarahBasques I also took the public bus for several years when I was in high school. I'm not trying to judge, but it was scary. There were some very shady people on there as well as homeless people who talked to themselves. Riding public transportation is not for the feint of heart. Totally unrelated, but could you do a video on 2025? What are your overall feelings towards the future? Super curious to know your outlook.
@ I did it for years. I didn’t love it all the time, but the bus I took to & from work was ok. Not many people. I would love to make a video about 2025.
Yay! Sarah vid! 🎉 1:20 When I feel like this, it's because I'm usually with someone I really care about and I want to hold to a moment that's ephemeral, thus it's futile. 2:04 That's a shame but also completely understandable, especially online. The more I learn about cybersecurity, the more I realize, people aren't usually scared enough... As far as people in general, I just... don't know how to shut up... either that or 🗿... no between... I know I need to work on it, though... 3:20 As someone on the other side of one of those promises with myself, I learned a lot and was able to complete some very important projects by myself, some of which are helping to support me, but one thing I wasn't prepared for was loneliness on the other side. I think if my projects weren't skill building or job related and more expressive like what you're talking about, I would've fared better, though. Art especially is a very beneficial craft to devote yourself to while turning inward. I would suggest checking out Kim Diaz Holm, I think you would match his vibe. 6:00 Yeah... that's painfully relatable... 6:39 Whatever you decide, safety first! We will accept dramatizations! We come for the Goth Sarah Show, not the interstate traffic horror show! Hope you enjoy your journey inward, but always look forward to updates! Bye! 👋🖤
I’m the same way Sarah, I like to reminisce about Nostalgia a lot and I’m only 17 almost 18, and I feel the same, I wright a lot about the past in the notes app on my phone and read it the next day usually without realizing how much I have written or reminisced about. Your a strong person just like me, I don’t wanna say we’re a match for each other being friends but… we’ve had too much in common! And I just finished my room at my moms rental house she’s lived in after 3 years now and it looks sweet, but I also feel as you do as well, I’d like to do a lot of things that I enjoy more (going to the new arcade that I’ve made friends with the owner at more and getting hired there, chatting to you on TH-cam more, and talking about our feelings in personal comments more, and also to keep going back to places I went to as a kid for nostalgic purposes! (Niagara Falls again I was just there for the first time in 5 years last year for my first ever horror convention in October) and just being able to talk to you since your so special to me and my well being). Love you Sarah! Keep making shorts for me so I can keep commenting & talking with you! Hopefully things get better for the both of us! P.s. I have yet to drive as well even though I have my permit! And don’t have a car just yet! But yeah love you Sarah! Keep it up girl 🖤🖤🖤.
Thanks for your vid Sarah….good luck with driving….the more you spend time doing it, the more comfortable you should be doing it….maybe a driving stream??
@ My grandmother had to learn to drive at 60 after Gdad passed…the first year was a nervous one, but then she got used to it!…so expect some trepidation at first.
Congrats girl you are on the right path. Focus on self, is what it is motto is you releasing negative energy and keeping good. The more you focus on you and your gifts the more negative energy is released. I am proud of you!!❤😂
It sounds like you have a good understanding of where you are in life and where you should be going. From my own experience (39m) of letting go of control in life and really slowing down and focusing on understanding who the hell I am, it's been the most necessary thing I could possibly do for the past few years, even if it meant quitting jobs, making far less money, and cutting out loads of friends and family. Maybe it's in your nature to be super chill and not exuding excitement but if I could forecast anything for you, you should be excited because I'd wager you're going to start becoming a lot happier in life.
The fear of driving where other people are involved is a valid fear, had my own experiences. You can let that stop you, or... you can let familiarity breed contempt (or at least "don't care no mo' "). Literally, exposure because of want and or need innures you to what you were previously scared of. Yes, you do get additional training. Yes, you do practice habits of self-preservation, awareness of your surroundings, safe driving and trying to be predictable to other drivers. Yes, there are spikes of worry. But... it goes away, mostly if not completely. (I used to have PTSD around T intersections from an accident not of my making. I'm still more aware of those intersections now but my adrenaline doesn't spike, my heart rate doesn't spike unless there is something potentially an issue looking like it will probably (increased likelihood) become an issue. However, there is nothing wrong with continuing to not learn to drive and instead rely on others. But in relying on others you're still in a vehicle and you have less control than if you were the driver. Hope all goes well for you.
I respect how u feel ik the feeling it's hard never easy but its always good to have friends there by your side you're not alone i love ur channel an hope to see your amazing videos whatever u post whatever u share I'd love it it may not be much but its always good to hàve friends ppl there with u
I like your idea of a series of videos about confronting fears. Your description of the driving part of your life (no license yet (which I take to mean relatively little experience), nervous, not going on the freeway) makes me fear the idea of your making videos while driving. You mentioned the involvement of other people: other people are involved (on the road, relying on your safe return from a drive, &c.). It seems to me that, especially at this stage, it's best to focus on _driving,_ not on _making videos while driving._ Yes, I heard you say you're a good driver; but it seems likely that whatever goodness there is your driving when you're not making videos is greater than the goodness that there would be in your driving if you were making videos while driving.) Ideas, which you may already have in mind: make videos before driving; make videos after driving; make videos during breaks from driving; make videos only during drives where no-one else is on the road, the weather's good, there's plenty of light, vistas are broad, &c.-with the camera not in front of you, so you'll be less tempted to look at it instead of keeping your eyes on what's going on outside the car. Another option is to get a dash-cam, which looks forward and gives us something like your view of the road, and just to let it record while you drive, and then to edit that down to something to share-again, using a dash-cam that doesn't look at you and therefore doesn't tempt you to look into the lens and take your eyes off your surroundings. _Cats are small, they can be camouflaged, and they can move fast: it takes only a split second of looking at a camera while driving to end up hitting a cat._ And nobody will get to enjoy any new videos from you-driving-videos or otherwise-, and you won't get to work on your plans for this year, if you're dead from a crash. Yes, yes; I know you're not stupid, but anyone can have an idea that needs more thought before it turns into action-and you did say "I'm terrified of driving" and "I would like to show more of that if you guys are interested in that", and the first place my mind went was "making videos while driving". If I misunderstood and all you mean is videos _about_ driving, made while you're _not_ driving, then I'm sorry to waste your time and I'm glad you're not planning to do what I feared. I got my license at nineteen, and it felt late; but I don't feel bad when others get their licenses even later. I have a friend who didn't get hers until her early forties. And you own a house (or part of one?), whereas I'll be forty-five in a week and have never owned a single piece of real-estate. When my parents were my age, they'd already owned maybe half a dozen houses. I don't know how you feel about your lack of a license, but I feel lousy about where I am at this age in the housing part of life. Anyway, enough babble from me. Thanks for another video.
@@smadaf I actually agree with you. Not the smartest idea. I would make sure to do it in a safe way with someone else there as well, but yeah… I should focus on driving & maybe make videos in between, like you said. Thanks!
Don't lower your expectations too much. You have a right to be happy. Make sure you don't shack up with a borderline or aspd. Try 5-htp to boost serotonin and melatonin - but read up on it first. She's a hand talker guys - lol jj it's cute and you seem really sweet.
I love it, it is what it is, and it is the truth. If you don't like it, well, you can't do more than that. Lately I realized that I needed to look at myself more, because my anger, sadness, rage and resentment didn't let me see the good things in life! So, stay up and calm, you have your whole life ahead of you! Be strong!
I use the “is what it is” line a lot. I tell people that hate that line it’s used as either a cop-out, or a “stating a fact” kinda deal. When i use it it’s the stating a fact, or the obvious if you will. Good vid. Have a good evening and cheers
Random away, my dear. my notes watching this vid: Reading notes off your water bill, I bout died laughing. As for those moments, I will start thinking like that sort of, and I'll take a minute to actively look around and burn it in my brain, rather than just passively be there. Not taking myself out of it, but trying to be actively drinking it in. I understand about sharing less on the internet, but, I would caution against pulling back from reaching out to other people. Humans are still social creatures. Hitting the gym will change your life if you make it seriously and keep routine. wow, I can't imagine 30 and not have a drivers license. But Hey, at 51, I finally got my motorcycle license, so it can be done! Great payoff with the water bill line at the end. that is what makes great comedy.
I know you can get your license I got mine when I was 28 I still do not have a car... but eventually I hope to be able to buy one and stop being afraid, Fear holds us back from everything we could be.

And I was just trying to relate with you on the driving thing as best I can due to my experience with it🖤can’t wait to see you next time and if you reply that’s cool too I’ll probably respond as well I don’t like to feel left out and to have others left out as well🤘🏻
Everything is in the now, 2 seconds ago was 2 seconds ago and you will never get that back, one can try to recreate by going back to that place or thinking of the past and having an emotion about it, but never ever go back to that exact moment, because that exact moment happened in a time and place we can never go back to.. focus on the now, but yes you only have you..sure you have people in your life but you have your own thoughts and feelings.. don’t worry about not driving, a lot of Europeans don’t 🤷♂
Idk if you'll read this, but i hope this year is great for you. I'm a pretty private person myself. For the most part, i enjoy being by myself; but i have moments where i feel alone even when I surround myself with family. I dont feel like I'm in the moment. It can be pretty depressing; but i hope that you have a good day. You seem like such a nice person! Im sorry if I sound like a bot. Lol
sometimes, i feel deja vu for thoughts that i have only just thought for the very first time, ever, which seems similar to what you mentioned. just to make some chit chat, have you ever heard of ladytron, smoosh, and lambrini girls? those are some of what im listening to these days. peace out sarah basques. ✌️
@SarahBasques you might like ladytron, smoosh is a band pretty much im the only person who listens to, and lambrini girls is a new punk thing. i listen to tons of stuff, but those were the three it occured to me to mention. really into female vocals. ✌️✌️
I feel like you said a lot in this video without actually saying it. You do you, and people are going to watch. You are such an attractive person, in attitude/mannerisms as well as looks. That alone is going to bring views, much less you showing quirky relatable stuff like writing on your water bill lol. You fill in a certain void for some of us who always wanted a legit goth woman in our lives to just talk to us if nothing else, so I hope you continue to make content and share. As far as a license, be brave dude. You put yourself out on the internet to be in front of potentially millions of people, you can pass a driving test. As someone with a commercial drivers license I can testify its the other drivers you have to watch out for (cuz they won't watch for you). P.S. PLEASE find like a huge chair like Morpheus in the Matrix had if you can't get a throne.
I appreciate your kind words so much. 🖤 Thank you! I’m happy to hear your thoughts & know that people like you get something out of these random videos. Means a lot.

I understand where you are coming from Sarah believe it or not when I was in my early 20s I didn't have a driver's license for the longest time because I was scared to drive around so I feel ya there it is scary when you have your own car especially when there's stupid people on the road even in snowy conditions it's scary but you know what as long as you stay calm and you watch out for other people and you always obey the traffic laws and when you drive in snowy conditions always drive slow take your time and when you gonna go into work leave way early and whatever you do do not jerk the wheel trust me it's a bad idea as far as buying a car you wanna go for a car that sami new I would say maybe 3 years old because getting a used car these days is gonna suck because you gotta check everything on it the oil the fluids the battery even the tires and the best car you definitely wanna get is a Honda or even Toyota these are the best brand of car I had a Kia in the bast and it was junk and honestly it pretty cool to know that you got may good video ideas I am definitely looking forward to check those out have a nice day 😊
I'm 23 and I don't have my license. My excuse? Well, cars are expensive, but also, I am also unsettled by driving. A friend of mine who offered to teach me said to think of the car as not a 2 ton machine of death (even if that sounds cool), but as YOU. Move with the car, don't think about it too much. Easier said than done, but I'll have to let her teach me some more.
If you aren't able to appreciate a moment while you are in it, seems kind of sus. I mean disassociation in a moment is indicative of trauma or something like it. Because you aren't able to engage at the moment but only at the MegaLevel.

I've worked through similar things for years and definitely happier with the end result and where I stand in relationships. I love your videos - they're meaningful and insightful. I think accepting rather than expecting is a good quality to have in life. Looking forward to future videos.

Anyway, love your videos. Keep them going.

What you are saying resonates well with me as an old retired dude. Best wishes to you.
Try driving the highways at night, when the roads are empty, but take someone with you. You can gradually move the time up and experience heavier traffic at a slower pace. Look up all the parts of your car, and what things do. The more you learn about your car, the less anxious you'll feel about any potential car issues.
yes this resonates so well with me thanks❤
I have BPD, it’s overwhelming, overthinking, over feeling, I feel ya.

Hi Sarah! I feel like that’s sort of happened to me too before we’re I feel like things happening are already distant and like a memory even before there actually over. I really like your videos they’re so natural and real 😊
@@nicholewaye95 I’m glad you can relate & you appreciate my videos. 🖤 Thank you.
Bless Up
Yay! Sarah vid! 🎉
1:20 When I feel like this, it's because I'm usually with someone I really care about and I want to hold to a moment that's ephemeral, thus it's futile.
Bye! 👋🖤
i really enjoy watching video and i really feel you on this one' will that life
Im in the outcast club always been im fine with that
"Paint it black" Oh yeah... 😎
Thanks so much for your kind words, as always. 🖤 Thanks for sharing all of that with me. I hope you’re doing well!

All very valid. Thanks for your thoughts.

My mom didnt get her license till she was 37. Best thing is getting a small car to learn in.
It seems to me that, especially at this stage, it's best to focus on _driving,_ not on _making videos while driving._ Yes, I heard you say you're a good driver; but it seems likely that whatever goodness there is your driving when you're not making videos is greater than the goodness that there would be in your driving if you were making videos while driving.)
Ideas, which you may already have in mind: make videos before driving; make videos after driving; make videos during breaks from driving; make videos only during drives where no-one else is on the road, the weather's good, there's plenty of light, vistas are broad, &c.-with the camera not in front of you, so you'll be less tempted to look at it instead of keeping your eyes on what's going on outside the car. _Cats are small, they can be camouflaged, and they can move fast: it takes only a split second of looking at a camera while driving to end up hitting a cat._
And nobody will get to enjoy any new videos from you-driving-videos or otherwise-, and you won't get to work on your plans for this year, if you're dead from a crash.

Be strong!
Yeah I was going to say 🤗🤗🤗
I am looking forward to see more about you😅😅😅🎉
I use the “is what it is” line a lot. I tell people that hate that line it’s used as either a cop-out, or a “stating a fact” kinda deal. When i use it it’s the stating a fact, or the obvious if you will. Good vid. Have a good evening and cheers

Random away, my dear. my notes watching this vid:
Reading notes off your water bill, I bout died laughing.
I know you can get your license I got mine when I was 28 I still do not have a car... but eventually I hope to be able to buy one and stop being afraid,
Fear holds us back from everything we could be.
