    This was the Two Alexes show. Paulsen and Rufer were immense.
    Great game. Hopefully next year another win for the Nix at Mt Smart.

    I'm intrigued by the Phoenix manager Italiano. Seemingly he's come out of nowhere, and appears to be all over it.

    The Nix defence still gives me nightmares some games BUT,they seem to be growing tighter as a Unit.

    Tell you what something the Phoenix really have going for them is there academy I don't think IV seen them turn out a bad player as yet. They so far have turned out Cacace and Singh who now play in some top leagues, and Paulsen. Not to mention these new bloods like old they really must have a good system there cos so far their young players I would say are better then alot of others

      Nix are playing with real conviction, fast movement and attacking intent. City is a big scalp. The manager deserves credit.

      @cijj84 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      its not so much as the academy is high quality, not that its bad. Its the fact that the nix give decent game time to the youth players so they get the time to develop into useful players. You could almost say its the nix lack of willing to buy expensive players from overseas is the real hero lol. I watch the other clubs and most the youth players they are required to have warm benches and only get put on for short stints at end of games.

      @aotearoaidol 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@cijj84 it's a double edge sword because the a-league is trash especially when you have clubs like melb city who are financed by man city which means they find it way easier to get very quality overseas players to come play for them where as other teams don't have that luxury. But phoenix have done well over the years to get decent overseas players to come

    • @philippefm
      @philippefm 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cijj84 three youth players have walked straight into the Phoenix backline without playing a senior game at A-league level - Paulsen, Surman and Kelly-Heald. They've also contributed to a number of clean sheets. I would say that can be attributed to a strong academy, and rapidly improving football infrastructure in New Zealand.

      @@philippefm With the exception of paulsen, none of these players are exceptional, they have all made mistakes and limited on there use but getting better each game. That first game of the season were we ran a 4-3-3 showed how limited they are. Im glade we are developing them but we are going well based off our current tactics and the efficiency of our senior players up front. If we tried to push more players forward at this stage our defense could not handle it
