Trading vampirism for madness I see. I loooove doing the Shivering Isles early in my play throughs, because then I can play the rest of the game like I am the Mad God on vacation.
It would be interesting if Jayred actually had some character. Maybe instead of a stranger walking up to him and him immediately going "I KNOW HOW KILL GATEKEEPER COME GIT BONZ" and then proceeding to kill it easily, there could be a purpose. Like, maybe he's just crazy like the rest, then you help him with some sort of quest and we learn he has a fascination with bones due to some parental skeleton he has, and after burying it or something he confronts you and demands you dig it up, but you put your foot down and say it belongs buried and resting. So he in turn translates his fixation into another source, now seeing slight clarity instead of full insanity and realizing that the bones of the gatekeeper will do for both helping him with his madness, and also helping him repay you for liberating him. This in turn allows him to see the gatekeeper bones will kill the new gatekeeper when used as an arrow and thus he can repay you in full. I dunno maybe they just wanted the player to immediately get into the real Shivering Isles and leave the crappy town quickly. But why even have it then? Why not some wacky colors and then choosing between Mania and Dementia? If they're gonna have it, they could put in that little bit more.

The Celts and Germans were well-known for using bones for all kinds of things. Cups, toothpicks etc. Even used bone-tipped arrows which weren't particularly good if the enemy had armor on. But Jayred is really into his craft.

I bought oblivion on pc because of this play through. I've already done all the arena quests. Never played it before but I played skyrim and morrowind. Keep up the great content! I look forward to this play through continuing.
You guys COULD get a better restoration spell than Heal Minor Wounds, BUT that would stop the beautiful sight of Mac glowing and skipping around the Cyrodiil countryside.
I wish you guys got to listen to Jayreds dialogue! It's by far some of the funniest lines in oblivion. Joke about him having all the seasons of Bones was great tho, not to mention that helmet/
To get Mac's old face back, from the main menu, load up an old save from before he was a vampire, then load up your most recent save file. Its a known bug with vampirism.
