The CO2 can come from trioxocarbonate, or hydrogentrioxocarbonate. These can be distinguished by adding Phenolphthalein, if the salt solution contains trioxocarbonate there is a colour change to pink, if it has hydrogentrioxocarbonate, colourless.
Ammonium Bicarbonate NH4HCO3 and Ammonium trioxocarbonate (NH4)2CO3 will both give off CO2 on reacting with an acid with effervescence. But to distinguish which is present, whether a hydrogentrioxocarbonate ion or a trioxocarbonate ion, adding Phenolphthalein to each will confirm a trioxocarbonate ion by giving a visible pink color, since its basic, while presence hydrogentrioxocarbonate ion will show no color change, or just very slight pink, since its acidic. Since you talked about phenolphthalein and methyl orange in the other video, I assumed they were part of the specimen. Because even using CaCl2, may not really distinguish a hydrogentrioxocarbonate from a trioxocarbonate, as both give white ppt of CaCO3. Except they are then asked to test for CO2 later.

This has no bearing to what the exam questions will look like
