Jim laker voted bob player of the series against either N.Z. or Pakistan when we played 2 three match tests Jim laker called Bob the praying mantis 11:39
Allan Border is the Aussie batsman this pom has most admired in nearly 50 years of watching cricket. Gritty, nuggety & stubborn as hell, he parlayed a handful of scoring shots into a hugely successful cricket career. What's not to admire about that ?
Thanks very much for this. Does anyone anywhere have highlights of the first test match of this series at Perth in 1982? I've searched everywhere, for many years, but can't find any. There are a few clips but not full highlights. Strange because the other matches are available.
@@SymooDavid alright mate,I recently saw a reply from you on one of your videos-though can't find it now when I need it obviously lol- telling someone to email you for a list of your matches (to swap I'm assuming?)). What is your email please btw mate? Can't find it on your channel anywhere, including 'about' section. I've got loads to swap and am known by quite a lot of swappers, mainly South Asia, Australia (including Peter O'Shea, good reliable bloke,he got full 1st test 1988/9 Pakistan v Australia from me),and here in England. Would be very interested in what you have, please could you let me know? And keep up the good work, much appreciated :) DEL
Wonderful Test series , the WSC that season too was terrific. I've been searching for any Highlights from the '77/'78 Test series v India , would you have any ?
@99waylon. Very pleased to see your message. Missing your golden uploads. Would love to get in touch with you. ABC did televise some more series highlights like Australia Pakistan 1983-84 Tests, Australia West Indies Tests 1984-85. I have some footage of one of the Tests of Pakistan Tour of Australia 1989-90 as well. So there must be some sort of deal of showing highlights between ABC network and ACB.
ABC still had the rights to broadcast test cricket in regional Australia until 1991/92 when aggregation started. The boxing day test of 1991/92 was the last test shown by the abc in Australia
ABC took it court where it was decided they could telecast into areas not covered by Nine's network but they had to pay Nine for the privilege & use their own cameras & commentators.
best wicketkeeper in the world behind the stumps for England Bob Taylor a master craftsman

Alan Knott was! Bob Taylor was also great!
As a pure glove man Taylor was better than Knott. It was just knots far superior batting that got him in
Nah! He was good, but he couldn’t bat very well. And even on glove work alone, I would still take Knotty.
Better keeper than Knott, but Knott the far better batsman
Astonishing that this was Greg Chappell's only test century at Adelaide Oval.

@markh9749 Absolutely sir. My idol during his playing days
My absolute sporting hero.
Fighting Parkinson's these days, sadly.
Real grit.
Botham and Pringle bowling medium paced pies
Super channel..some vintage cricket from Australia during the 1970/80s. Best decade of cricket for sure 👍
"We'll have a bowl" says no one who wins the toss at Adelaide ever.
Geoff Lawson had an extreme action and was a pretty good bowler in his time.
Fantastic to see this series again
Gower's catch to dismiss Greg Chappell was ridiculous; sheer reflex.

Loved Greg Chappell, magnificent batsman
Curious decision to put the Aussies in! Apparently Willis was persuaded by England's batsmen. PS - almost 40 (yes 40!) years ago!
Yes, that's Dennis Cometti working for the ABC at 52:00
This is fantastic didnt realise Dennis Cometti called cricket for ABC television. I always thought dennis called on ABC Radio
Enjoy Mate
Do you have the abc version of thePerth Sydney and Brisbane tests from this series
@@andrewruss2764 A couple more
That was a tremendous one from ABC.

Presumably Bob Willis knew that England would lose so opted for a long, drwn out agony.
Interestingly there was talk of dropping Border around this time. Then he almost helped win the next test match in a thriller at the mcg.
Greg Chappell could play a bit!😂
Great upload but how inane was it of the broadcaster to tell people how many runs etc the sides got in each innings before showing the highlights!

There are some videos available mate
Bring back long boundaries and make the Batsman work for their runs again..
ABC footage? How did that happen when Channel 9 had the rights? I seriously would love to know

I thought it was only Channel 9 that broadcast the tests in Australia?
ABC was allowed to broadcast to parts of regional Australia which at that time in some areas didn't have access to Channel 9
ABC took it court where it was decided they could telecast into areas not covered by Nine's network but they had to pay Nine for the privilege & use their own cameras & commentators.

How did hemmings get his pick, bowls too many 4 balls ,bob behind the sticks immaculate as ever at 42
Eddie Hemmings came into the reckoning as an England off spinner when John Emburey was banned for going on a rebel England tour to South Africa.
Awesome catch by Gower to dismiss Chappell
