Sukuna opening his eyes was just him being in shock, he didn’t expect choso to miss. Sukuna was fully prepared for yuji to die right there which is why he closed his eyes, but Choso had purposely stopped himself bc of those memories.

Everyone who was reading the manga when these chapters released was confused af as well, from what I can gather. There were a lot of theories, so having a theory is nothing to laugh that. Your Yuji-has-some-sort-of-a-technique theory does have support from that curse user in the last episode who Nanami wrecked, since he showed someone could have a technique without knowing its precise effects (although he was vaguely aware of its existence). I won't say any more, just y'know, reassurance that your idea isn't really that crazy.
I've read the manga and I won't speak for anyone else but I'm still not sure what happened here, I think it's similar to what happened with Yuji and Todo though, Yuji also made Todo think he was his brother but......... no spoilers, also this is going to sound weird but hearing the shaky voice was comforting, Shibuya is NOT fun, and it's only going to get less fun with the coming episodes, It's nice to know you know the gravity of what's going on, you know?
