Banning Gateway seems so unlikely in my opinion that I think there is a higher chance Gateway gets unlimited instead since Six Sams are probably a Rouge deck at best with this support wave. The only reason why it would make sense to ban it is because it promotes unhealthy gameplay and FTKs and not because the deck is too powerful.
@@TCGNistro Yeah but there exist 100s of FTKs in the game and just a fraction of them are ever banned. Only the FTKs that are able to top multiple events get hit at all and even that is no guarantee for an FTK deck getting hit. Yeah if Six Sam FTK gets tops in multiple events after this support wave releases I can see that FTK getting hit but that doesn’t instantly mean they would ban Gateway since they could ban or limit other stuff Isolde or Invoker in the OCG for example. The normal Six Sam variant is probably just better since it doesn’t have to play suboptimal cards and that deck doesn’t even seem good enough that it deserves to get their best card banned. Yeah Gateway is a stupid card but so is Spellbook of Judgement and so was Block Dragon for most of the time it was legal but these cards are still fine to have in the game as long as the cards surrounding them aren’t good enough and I don’t think this support wave makes Gateway much more busted than it was before since they designed the cards in a way they can’t be used for Gateway loops and work fine without it. How the wave is designed shows us that Konami wants Six Sams to be played more as a normal combo deck that doesn’t need to rely on FTKs but they also would have never printed Battle Shogun if Konami wasn’t somehow fine with Six Sams doing at least some stupid stuff. And I think that is very smart. The best example of Konami doing something similar is with the latest Drytron support. It makes the deck better but also nudges you in the direction Konami wants you to play the deck.
@@TCGNistroConsidering that rescue hedgehog makes one card FTKs for the deck, I'm inclined to agree with you. I've stopped theory crafting now but I used to do literal hundreds of hours of six Sam deck crafting. If they for some reason unbanned both Isolde and/or invoker, we would have like 8 different FTKs several of which off of one card starters like sublimation knight and that's before the new stuff.
Honestly the solution is if six sams get more support after this down the line it’s to ban gateway and make a retrain of it that stops FTKs but still allows the deck to function
A more balanced bushido counter card and maybe a main deck searcher for them wouldnt be a terrible idea, I'd much rather have consistency than chokepoints.
I can see Saryuja Skull Dread getting banned due to the card not being archetype locked and it coming up a lot more in certain deck builds. Konami is trying to get rid the generic bosses mostly right now.
hi there from Bolivia. I played six sams on 2011 and im playing six sams on time wizard formats as edison/hat/tengu plan. Is there any way that this archetype could be playable in fun (i mean before new support) and can you make a deck profile base please i cant found anyone and have no idea about actual format
You want me to make a six samurai deck for time wizard formats? I'd say you'd probably have the most success in tengu plant, but maxx c is still a thing in that format

The FTK's are the primary reason I would think they would ban Gateway, I dont think infinites that accessible and consistent are healthy for the game
