      just think these are 3rd age monsters. weak compared to the monsters in the 1st age. you had dragons bigger than mountains. not to mention legions of balrogs.

    4:38 that's not a picture of a mountain troll, it's an Olog-Hai. Mountain trolls are much bigger. Also there is a mistake in the hobbit movie saying that the three trolls that wanted to eat dwarves are mountain trolls and that was wrong in the movie because they are stone trolls.

    Beleriand wasn’t destroyed by Illuvatar; it was destroyed in the War of Wrath, in the last battle against Morgoth.

      It’s hard to imagine even the most powerful Elves being capable of “drowning” Beleriand, including its mountains. This war, after all, occurred over a thousand years before the Elves of Eregion made the Rings of Power so they had no great artifacts that might have enhanced their power

      The first one was actually Draugluin, his ancestor, the one Huan slays before Sauron leaves Tol-in-Gaurhoth in a werewolf's body and the one that Luthien later turns Beren into to disguise him.

    You left out Crebain? The Barrow Wights? The Dead Men of Dunharrow (which are in the movie) the Huorns (which are in the movie)? The Pukel Men (not the Druadain but the woodcarving statues that can come to life? The corpse candles or ghosts of the dead marshes (shown in the film)? The werewolves and vampires of The Isle of Werewolves. Old Man Willow (which may be a huorn)?

      What exactly is old man willow? Just a rogue huorn? I forget if in the books it's ever stated.
      Also, another thing to add to your list could be the nameless things. However, there'd be no picture to accompany it. In fact, that's probably for the best.. pictures could give them power..

      I don’t think he has actually read the books. He seems to take most of this “knowledge” from the movies, I haven’t read anything of wereworms in the books.

      @@langskeppet9887 In the books wereworms are most likely a legend in hobbit folklore, only briefly mentioned by Bilbo in the first chapter of the hobbit. It is generally regarded among Tolkien scholars that the are not actually real, but they might possibly be some of the nameless things like the Watcher in the water and Ungoliant

    Glaurung was evil's MVP. His mindfuck games were epic, and caused multiple suicides. He could have just slain the heroes that went against him, but he preferred to torment them, trick them, and in the end drive them to take their own lives. Badass evil dragon.

      Nah Sauron takes it easily. He killed Finrod Felagund, ravaged the early kingdoms of men, demolished Mordor, and then when he got caught, he manipulated his way into a leadership position and got fucking NUMENOR sunk. And that's before we even talk about the Ring

      @@thekillers1stfan Fealgund and a werewolf both slew each other in Sauron's dungeon. I don't know if I'd give that kill to Sauron. The werewolf deserves some credit. FYI, Finrod Fealgund was Good's MVP, fucking strangling a werewolf with bare hands as a captive. That's when Elven heroes were fucking hardcore.

She straight up got Huan to abandon his owner with a little sob story, cleansed Sauron's base of operations (making Sauron himself tuck tail and run), waltzed into Angband, put Morgoth himself to sleep, robbed his ass, and got away with it.

      @@brendandrislane4560 Eh the Dwarf king made Glaurang run for fear of his life during the battle of unnumbered tears, the dwarves then routed the dragon and his children off the field of battle before picking their dead king up into a funeral procession and just walking off the battlefield with no force of Morgoth willing to challenge them again. Give the dwarves some credit, they where the best weapon and armor smiths bar none in the first age, and could withstand dragon and balrog fire where humans and elves died to it.

    Good video. Just a suggestion but you can also do the locations of all the major battles in each of the Ages of Middle Earth and an overview of what happened.

    Beorn lived in the west of Murkwood not the east. Between the misty mountains and the woods. That is how he help the dwarves. And was later given all of that land between the woods in the mountains to protect which made it possible for Gimly to travel to Riveindel.

      @@authoritariangentleman7570 Only that Lord of the Rings is one of the very first modern fantasies created. It introduced the concept of Elves as tall, beautiful humanoids. Before they were only known in old English folklore as tiny forest fey beings, with wings etc. Every fantasy story written afterwards has embraced a lot of Tolkien's concept, so today it feels generic. But in fact it's the original.

    So, the sea serpents aren't mentioned in the books but you say that because they are in rings of power they can be considered canon?!!!
    Oh and yes there are serpents on some maps of Middle earth but this was a convention in early map drawing to decorate the edges with weird and wonderful creatures - it was never meant to be taken literally!

      It's actually mentioned in Tolkien's linguistic writings that the elves had a word for a sea-serpent, so it's possible that they are canon

    I was under the impression that the stone giants were actually metaphorical (a way by which the characters described the sounds of the thunderstorm). Peter Jackson interpreted them quite literally though.

    is there a reason most creatures are evil or fight for the enemy? like why aren't there 'good' beasts like cats etc. Even eagles and ents are neutral and only fight for the good once or twice

      Its because its in rings of power and so they have assumed (understandably) Jeff bezos made it up. However, the compendiums from Tolkien and his son do mention a breed of troll called a snow troll, albeit obliquely. The tale of Helm Hammerhand refers to him stalking the enemy in frozen waste and them thinking he was a Snow Troll he was so fierce
