    What is your suggestion about collections?

      I think that depends on what they are trying to collect, the statute of limitations on that debt, and if you have enough money to negotiate a smaller amount. I co-signed for someone many years ago and she got us into hot water. The first time we even heard she owed money like that was from the collector. We were able to negotiate with them by paying half of the debt as a lump sum and they wrote off the rest of the debt. Each situation is different though.
