I have enjoyed your video immensely Ani, yet another one. Your channel is what I've been looking for on youtube. Not only do you review a book, but you also expand on themes. I absolutely love it. Thank you 😍❤️
Jolanta, thank you for fueling my desire to continue on with these videos! So incredibly thankful for your input and thoughts. And I am so happy to know you find the information both enjoyable and beneficial! Sending you warmth! With love, Ani
Wonderful job Ani! Your comments re law school resonated as much as your insights on Camus. Here’s to rolling our rocks and the next existential crisis 🍻
Great video Ani! I decided not to go to law school and I don’t regret it 😅. And perfect timing because I was just reading the myth of Sisyphus in The Odyssey and just purchased Mythos 🙌🏼
Oh my goodness, Ani, you're just so cute when you're nervous to do Camus justice! Love! But seriously, this is such a wonderful, excellent review of Camus' Sisyphus, you've definitely made me want to read it SO MUCH MORE. Beautifully related, highlighting the important themes and ideas of this book. Love the quotations you share as well! I started The Plague last year but I think it was just a bit too intense during the height of the first lockdown. I'd love to take Camus's writing up again. I'm very interested in exploring Christian existentialists like Gabriel Marcel and Kierkegaard (haven't read either yet!), as I feel like they embrace this thing of "living the questions" but also holding onto faith which I love. Also, love your stories about law school, graduation, and moments of "rebellion" :D. I really want to read Stephen Fry's story of Psyche and Eros; reminds me! I highly recommend Till We Have Faces by C. S. Lewis. It's a retelling of the myth of Psyche and Cupid from a chapter of The Golden Ass by Apuleius, and so philosophical and beautiful Told from the viewpoint of Psyche's sister, Orual, it is a brilliant examination of envy, betrayal, loss, blame, grief, guilt, and conversion. In this, Lewis's final-and most mature and masterful-novel, Lewis reminds us of our own fallibility. A beautiful video, Ani. I love hearing your voice / watching your videos so much!
Hope you find time to get to Marcel and Kierkegaard soon! Thank you so much for the C.S. Lewis rec! I will have to explore it, as I found Fry’s retelling brilliant but left me wanting to learn more :))
By the way! I was reminded of you just now as I’m reading At the existentialist Cafe - it has bits of passages on Kierkegaard and his quirks, and they’re fascinating!
