Absolutely epic.
Honestly, F(X) I love because their music is so experimental yet so fun and the choreo was always amazing too. Much like with their brother group SHINee, you never knew what to expect from them. Im hoping they will debut a similar group again but time will tell.
F(x) debuted with very heavy and detailed choreo but midways with the following of their more experimental sounds, their choreo became less bouncy and powerful. And just like you said f(x) is not very feminime in both their music and choreo, and thats really new to kpop. Honestly for me, their choreo will always a feast to see, bcs back then girlgroups dont really have a detailed choreo, they usually have a catchy move in the chorus and solo part for main dancer somewhere in the song, but overall its pretty repetitive. At that time the concept for girlgroups is restricted to either sexy or cute, f(x) really feel like a breath of fresh air bcs of that. Even after f(x) slowed down their choreo its still very detailed and ofc they keep experimenting with the choreo.
The girl that you pointed out in Nu ABO is victoria, she is the official main dancer. She majored in classical chinese dance which people say its closer to ballet in a way that they need discipline and fexibility to dance. But f(x) also have Luna, she's the most underrated member of f(x) yet she is the main vocalist and close to be a main dancer. Pretty sure you can see that she has a stong basic in hip hop, popping and locking. She actually picked by SM bcs of her dancing, only after that she became a vocalist, and she probably is one of the best vocalist in SM. Her solo album is probably one of the best solo when it come out, but sadly again, it somehow goes under the radar of kpop fans.
oh you read my comment ♥ and I just notice I was supposed to say "they were originaly 5 members" LOL sorry. About the SNSD connection you were looking for, they both came from SM Ent. Krystal is the younger sister of Jessica, former member of SNSD. F(x) was more thought to be SHINee's sibling group, you can notice that their ealiest choreographies looked kinda similar, because they had the same choreographer.
Victoria, the leader, also the red hair one you pinpointed on NUABO video, studied at the Beijing dance academy, so that's probably why she stands out for the dancing and got the main dancer title, though Luna could easily get that part too, but for different reasons.
Recommended videos: LaChata live debut and, if you can find any(because the official was taken down), LaChata in the rain performance, they performed the song completelly live in a hell of a pouring rain, sounded amazing and managed to leave the stage without any accidents, just epic
Another fun fact: Pink Tape, is still considered for many specialists the best kpop album ever

If you get the chance. Live performances of Four Walls, Airplane, and Diamond would be fun to watch. Also there is an old music video/phone commercial called Chocolate love. SNSD their older sister group at SM also have a version of Chocolate love. Also in a way the older sister part is literal because a Krystal of f(x) is the younger sister of SNSD's Jessica.
Well the main connection if you will between SNSD and F(X) is that members Jessica and Krystal (respectively) are sisters.

NU ABO was the first f(x) song i ever heard & the song that REALLY got me into kpop. i'd listened to random songs once in a while before NU ABO came out but that song had me in a chokehold for soooo long. i miss these girls so much!! it's always a hot summer with f(x)

17:00 19 year old here! From good old Yorkshire and was brought up with VHS's and pirated films on cd's (specifically Beauty and the beast). I can confirm that we did in fact have a big ass box tv with a VHS player growing up. :D
Technically Hot Summer was originally by a European band. (German? Don't remember exactly.) It did fairly well in Europe. So then a few years later SM got the rights to do a remake & felt it would be a great song for f(x) to do. So f(x) did a Korean & a Japanese version! The Japanese version of the mv is actually my favorite. It only uses a few of the same video clips, & the aesthetic is different. Mainly it's like the Korean mv is the daytime "cute" version, while the Japanese mv is the nighttime "club" version.
Nu ABO is phonetic spelling, & the letters in ABO are said separately because it's not a word. It translates to "new A, B, O" with the letters referring to blood types. In Asia they have a thing similar to astrology that says personalities are different based on blood types. So the song says "I'm a new blood type" meaning a new personality type, a.k.a. "I'm not like the girls you've met before".😂

the box TV thing is legit. one of my students asked me about my childhood recently and he got really confused when i mentioned how only my dad was strong enough to move the living room TV. NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, KID -- those things were fuckin HUGE and they were HEAVY AF.
Out of these 4 songs, Red Light is my favorite.
Close behind it though is La Cha Ta. Since it was their debut song, the video gives visual clues to let the viewer get to know things about the individual personalities & their roles in the group. So it's fun to rewatch it once you know them well & go "Ahh! I get that reference now. Ooh, I thought that thing was a simple & obvious thing before, but know I know its other meaning when paired with her!"
For example, when they go inside & have their individual rooms, Victoria is in a Victorian-era-inspired mini dress. So of course, that means she's Victoria. But, it also means she is the queen! She's the leader of the group, the eldest, the "mom". Her fashion is still fun but most of the time a little more grown up.
Krystal is in a room full of crystals, bouncing the light around so prettily. But also, Krystal has resting b*ch face, which has her sometimes mistaken to be an "ice princess", so the light in that room, while pretty, is a cold pure white.
Luna gets the moon of course, but it's the style you see in plays & such, as she loves musicals which combine all her loves, dancing, singing & acting. Her glittery gold dress is feminine fun & shows she is a warm personality by reflecting golden light instead of pure white.
Amber is dressed like a magician, not just any kind of showperson, because she isn't what she seems. (Her short hairstyle, love of several sports, & dressing only in comfy androgynous or male styles 98% of the time causes her to be mistaken as a guy quite a bit.) But also, her position as main rapper hides a beautiful singing voice. She was the only member that got into SM on vocal ability alone. Before her audition @ 14 yrs old, she never had any formal singing lessons, only what she picked up hearing her mom sing at home & singing @ church. The others got in for other things & then continued vocal lessons they started when little until they were good enough to be accepted as singing trainees.

Sulli's misfortune in f(x) was that she wasn't the best at anything within the group, didn't have a clear and obvious role. She missed being the maknae to Krystal by a matter of months (Krystal being a very un-maknae-like maknae), Luna & Krystal having the vocals sewn up, and Victoria & Luna the most powerful dancers. Just keeping up with them is a (largely unrecognized) feat in itself! The company tried to make her the lead (meaning, secondary) rapper, but Sulli just didn't have the feel for it. After Amber, Krystal and even _Luna_ instinctively did better with rapping than Sulli did. Korean audiences hated her because they couldn't pigeonhole her. Her contributions were so subtle, even people who didn't hate her couldn't figure out what she added to the group (richness of harmony and integral part of the choreography) until she was gone.
