This was my first Nascar race. Took my dad for Father's Day and it was a blast. Dale Sr won!

They also looked good, which is more than I can say for the present day cars.

1:15:08 - "Earnhardt's seventh, or rather, Schrader's seventh in the points, 350 behind Dale Earnhardt, so he only gave him five." R.I.P. to Bob Jenkins, the man who introduced an at-the-time eighth grader's five seconds of TV fame. Sadly, two thirds of the best TV booth in NASCAR has now passed away.

so around 1:23:30 kyle petty brough his car in after he got damage earlier. and i guess there were some exhaust fumes in the driver compartment, that made him sick and a bit woozy, so he just kinda stopped the car half in and half out of his box...they went looking for a substitute driver...but couldnt find one...so the King volunteered to do it, grabbed his helmet and suit and everything...and nascar told him no...how u gonna tell the King no?

On the other hand, "Richard Petty Gives Himself Carbon Monoxide Poisoning" wouldn't do NASCAR's PR department too many favors

I always liked the early Saturday race in July. You could see things going on around the track, not just on the track. I'm not a big fan of all the night races. Bristol night race used to be special. It was one of a kind and always sold out. Now it's just one of many and it's not a big deal anymore. Too much of a good thing.

I remember it starting before noon because it was so hot. The only time you could feel a breeze was when those cars came by!
