Qur'an verse 5:96” which states “Lawful to you is what you catch from the sea and use for food as provision for yourself and the travelers”.
Look at the context of that verse. Look at what's immediately before and immediately that part. That verse is talking about what's permissible and impermissible in Ihram and in haram. That's why the next part says "and has been made haram for you what's hunted from land as long as you remain Hurum"
So that verse "has been made lawful for you the hunted of the body of water" just means that there's no resrtiction on hunting from the sea (and eating that) in Ihram and in Haram. This is the opinion of Imams Abu Hanifah, Abu Yusuf and Muhammad. Also, even if you differ in interpretation of that verse; how can you label that as halal which also spends its time on land like crab. That would even make crocodile halal.
I really love animals and in this video there were many halal foods like canary and rabbit but I don't want to eat them cause it just breaks my heart seeing them getting eated:(

For those who don't know the meanings of the terms:
Halal = permitted
Haram = forbidden
Makruh = not forbidden, but discouraged

Majority of the scholars of Islam consider all types of shellfish to be halal. So Prawns, Shrimps, Lobsters, Crabs and Oysters are all seafood that are halal to eat in Islam. ... The Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanbalis all state that all non-harmful shellfish are halal to eat. So, crabs can be eaten.
But it is always better to consult you're ulamas and believe them, Allah will forgive even if some of us were wrong.

Muslims always try to label everything as haram, also called ‘’halal/haram police’’ or ‘’moral police’’. Dont listen to muslims, but follow your heart! You will not achieve anything with working for your boss. If you had €110,000,000,- in your bank account, you could help literally millions of people around the globe!! So God would hate such thing? Of course not! But it depends how you play.

Wearing gold as man is ‘’haram’’ (While King Solomo had beautiful golden chains, rings etc!!)
Everything is made ‘’haram’’ (or prohibited) by the evil ignorant and tyrant muslim ‘’scholars’’. Man made hadiths written 300+ years after the quran.
If this was true, then this was just a cult, not a beautiful religion from a powerful all knowing Lord! If so, then such a powerful Lord wouldn’t give you talents for hearing, speaking, singing, dancing, playing instruments, making beautiful art portraits etc etc!

By the other schools, is permissible, based on the verses of the Quran. Again, it depends on what type of seafood you are referring to.
Apart from that, great ulema, like Mufti Taqi Usmani (D.b), mentions that there is no mention of the prophet s.a.w or the companions consuming any sea animals besides fish.
According To the Hanafi; Oyster, lobster, Mussel, and crap are not allowed as satisfactory; they are considered haram.
While animals such as mussels, carp may have consumed in Maliki, Hanbali, and Shafi, they are not used according to the Hanafi sect. The Hanafi sect accepts them as haram because these classes of creatures are taken as dirty both regarding appearance and their flesh.

This is according to Hanafi. According to Syafie, every meat is halal except the ones that stated as haram in Quran, Hadith sahih, and Ijmak Ulama.
Same for malikit school of thoughts crayfish and crabs are halal.

Each time I listen to a strange obligation or rule I ask them were it was written because I didn't read it in the Quran and they always reply it's from some holy guy who didn't even met the Prophet (pbuh) sometimes.

Saudi Arabia mostly follows the Hanbali school of thought. Crab is only considered haram according to the Hanafi madhab.

Edit: many comments misunderstand the word "haram". Haram is forbidden by Islamic law and only Allah declares what is haram (read sura 6 aya 145). Something being unhealthy or not a suited for eating (poisonous) is not the same as Haram (even though the acting of self harm is Haram but has nothing to do with the meat). No Islamic law say that for example eating monkeys or elephants are haram so why don't you that? Because it's uncommon. Swine is common and not poisonous BUT is haram! That's the difference.

I'll correct it:
1. According to Islamic law, horses are halal animals. Horses are not included in the category of unclean animals, namely carnivorous animals with claws to tear their prey or birds with claws. Horses are grass-eating animals that do not have claws or claws.
2. Hyena (adh dhobu') is a halal animal. This is based on the word of Allah in Al-'Araaf: 157 which means "And who makes lawful for them everything that is good". Imam Syafi'i also said that people used to eat hyena meat and buy and sell it in the areas around Shafa and Marwah.
3. Mussels are a type of seafood. Proponents of halal shellfish argue that all seafood is permissible for Muslims to eat. They believe that because shellfish are a type of seafood, they are included in the halal food category.
4. In Islam, fish and grasshoppers are two types of carrion that are halal to eat. In fact, halal fish carcasses have been scientifically proven not to interfere with the working activities of the human body.
5. The majority of Islamic scholars consider all types of shellfish halal, including crab. In practice, many Muslims eat and enjoy crab and other shellfish.
6. Seahorses are allowed to be eaten because they fall within the generality of the above verses and hadith and there are no arguments against it. Also, because it is halal for land horses to be eaten with nash, of course seahorses are even more halal.
7. Based on the information above, eating shrimp, octopus, squid,Shell and crab, are all halal and there are no obstacles, based on the generality of the arguments that show it is permissible to eat sea game animals.

Imams Abu Hanifah, Abu Yusuf and Muhammad believe that only fishes are Halal out of all that which lives in water, and is born in it. This is because Quran (5:96) which the opponents often use to argue has a certain context which they often overlook. As for horse, yes all madhhabs agree that its halal as is proven from Ahadith.
Yet we don't even find a single week narration from even a sahabi that he ate any seafood other than fish. We also base our argument on 7:157 as Allah prohibits us from eating Khabaith. We say that if you consider all seafood halal then that would include distgusting stuff like crocodiles, turtles, octopuses, jellyfish etc which a normal human being can't eat without being disgustified thus they are all included in khabaith.

Cow, chicken, sheep, lamb and fish. Is the only easy access to food but sad to say some people are too choosy. My in laws, eating chicken everyday is too boring for them. Smh. Food is food, say Alhamdulilah for Allah swt for the food we received everyday for our daily needs.

I would love to try some of these animal meats such as rabbit meat duck meat and sea food which is halal. I heard rabbit meat tastes really good and it's halal. I have only had chicken lamb meat halal beef and fish in my life but I would love to try others including rabbit meat. I love chicken.

Crab isn't haram, it's khilafiyah. And actully it's included in the general hadith about the halal of seafood. If crabs are haram just because they live in two realms, we should also forbid catfish and eels cuz they can live in the mud without water too.
For Shafi and Hanafi Muslims its Haram. Please dont speak by name all muslims. Crab can live without water thats why they say its not halal like 🦀🦐🦑🐙
