This is the best scone recipe I've come across and made many times "a never fail recipe". The black treacle scones are yum too. Thankyou so much for sharing. I sometimes replace jam for lemon curd and clotted or sour cream or creme freche delicious.

Freeze the butter, grate it straight into the flour mixture, give it a quick mix and proceed. Saves time and effort. The less you touch the flour, the cooler your mixture, the lighter the scones will be.

I notice you didn’t brush the scones with the egg and milk before going into the oven, I usually do this and it gives them a nice colour. Also I would put cream on first then jam, but that’s just personal taste. Thanks for clear instructions.

Anybody answering ?... Well, this allows me to add another question (so, that's now 3, sorry) : when talking about mill and saying "300 ml" (or this is what I understand), does Siobhan means 300 ml, eggs included, or is it eggs, and then 300 ml milk added to the eggs, wich makes around 400 ml liquid, finall ? Hoping that someone will answer (using basical english, because I you can see mine is rather poor). Big thanks

MC Emsi 300 ml altogether and three teaspoons of baking powder not baking soda

Thankyou very much. I tried this way (using baking powder) and they were great. My scones favouriste recipe, with Annabelle's (quite different texture, so nice : 2 different things at the end : great choice. Thankyou very much, once more, for answering.

Please can anyone help me ? I'm from Brittany, my english is not so good, and maybe my ears too : it seems to me that Siobhan does not say "3 healped teaspoon",as written, but something else. Is it 3 heaped teaspoon, really ? And another question : when speaking about baking powder, it is "baking powder", ( = powder already mixed with acid agent) and not baking soda (which needs acid agent, like buttermilk) ? So here we may use milk and not buttermilk, is that so ? Thankyou very much for your help ! Emsi

good video, but why would you cut the strawberry like that at the end and leave the green bit on and then put it in the scone... Lol. That would be annoying. Unless you like eating the green bit of the strawberry

baking powder loses its power over time. If you use self raising flour and don't make these again for a month, you have poor raising dough. Also, in just a moment you can give the proper proportions of flour to baking powder.

Not fresh milk, use buttermilk for a superior scone. I think she’s overhanding it and it’s not necessary to use a cutter unless your trying to impress someone. Just gently separate with your fingers into equal’ish sized scones.

Don’t use measurements by gr…and if you don’t at least have equivalent in tsps., cups etc. of course, many videos use gr not just you. And every time it occurs I leave the same message…
