When you hide the spot channel there was some portion of the photo image extending into the spot color area. Will this change the color of the spot by printing some of the CMYK or is there some K.O. applied behind the spot? Does the drop shadow area that extends into the spot fill the same area as the spot or is there some trap applied?
In order to properly export your spot channels you will need to either keep your document as a .PSD file, or export it as .PDF or DPS 2.0. All other output formats will convert your spot color to process color.
