Steve and hei was banned,Steve even more than hei in 5.0 original when everyone start do discover the Full potencial of every character,in DR nobody was banned because they rebalanced the game and was "good to go"
Hard to believe Heihachi was banned in tournies in 5.0 but Steve, Bryan, and Nina were allowed. Devil Jin was also broken in 5.0. b+1 on hit guaranteed a WGF follow up if you transitioned into his Parting Wave stance. Feng was also broken in 5.0 with his b+1 being 8 frames and 0 on block. In short, 5.0 was just a ridiculously unbalanced game.
I won’t agree completely. Even though the game was kinda broken it still rewarded movement and whiff punishment. The only game I disliked was Tekken 4.
I don't recall a single tournament in which Heihachi was banned. There was a soft ban on Steve's infinite, but to my knowledge there was never a ban on an entire character.
Yup that game had balancing issues but with all said and done I enjoyed Tekken 5 a lot more than Tekken 7. It is unfair if you compare Tekken 7 with classics like Tekken 5 and Tekken 3. Firstly the gaming scene was still evolving back then. There were not many players. Secondly Tekken 7 has released on multiple platforms (playstation, xbox and pc) while Tekken 3 and Tekken 5 were only released on playstation and in arcades. So listening tekken 7 is the greatest tekken game of all the time just because it sold most copies with all it’s available platforms is funny kinda funny for me if not sad.

Sure, he has some BS too, but at least he doesn't have an infinite or an 8 frame jab! 2, 2, 1 was a bigger problem than any thing else in the game. I have seen Steve players getting completely obliterated by Heihachi in Tekken 5 arcades.

For me it was only heihachi. Tekken tag 1 had already trained a lot of Mishima players in all the necessary skillset and Mishimas were beasts in Tekken 5 era.
