This pleasant well spoken and obviously well brought up presenter speaks as if he’s above the moral quandaries and dilemmas that Dostoyevsky tries to deal with. As if he would have done better entrammelled in the same situations described in the stories.
Mate! Love your videos on all channels, big fan! Real nice you created Sideprojects as well. Can't help to think though, what happened to the chair? Would be a good set piece for Biographics!
Simon, have you ever thought of putting little bytesize factual, historical videos together for children. I reckon you'd be great at it, and kids are more likely to digest that kind of information when it's fun for them. It's just an idea I had when I was watching some of your uploads, you certainly seem to have an ability to see the irony and ridiculousness of a lot of the people and events that have shaped the world we now live in. Anyway, happy new year to you all. I look forward to lots more of your output in 2020. My god that sounds so futuristic don't you think?
.... Dostoyevsky....v.s......technology..."the degree to which a civilization can be judged can be seen by entering its prisons........something like that...sticks to my mouth like peanut butter on the brain...vague, but gratefully there

Highlight History will do!
An idea for your Biographics channel, Joe Medicine Crow, WW2 soldier and Crow Indian chief.
We need more Dostoyevsky. Genius
I've read almost if not everything written by him, numerous times, just like Franz Kafka, reading is FUNdamental!!!🙏👍📖
There is so much more to this man, a 9 minute video doesn't come close to doing him justice.
Please read him.
I agree. Reading Dostoyevsky enriches my life.
I wholeheartedly agree, read the works, they are awesome...2021 not much has changed has it, sadly!!!🙏📖👀👍
This video is all anyone needs to know surely

Hi, Simon! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
My favourite author of all time.
My favorite book of all time. I’m currently close to the 700 page mark of what’s either my 3rd or 4th time reading the Karamazov Brothers.
Seeing you sitting in that chair presenting different subjects somehow reminds of Alistair Cook on Masterpiece Theater.

Thank you, Simon. I’ve been watching science screeds on the superiority of the human mind and this was a delightful relief.
Wow, another new to me Simon channel. Look how casually he sits!
There's nothing casual about a man sitting with crossed legs.
Nice chair Simon, does it have a name yet? Like Indy Nidel’s “Chair of wisdom.”
Make a vote so we can name it
I just discovered this channel. I am now convinced that Simon has at least two clones.
Great video, thank you very much , note to self(nts) watched all of it 8:58
Simon if you do a biographics on Dostoevsky, I’d be so glad.
The greatest humanitarian whom ever graced this planet!!!
Cool video, thanks.
That planned execution pardon is really effective, I should make more use of it... in my fantasy writing that is.
This man changed the way i view humanity, better than any bible could...can you do one on alexzandra Solzhenitsyn???😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁....Simon?
We need a video on Dostoyevsky on Biographics!

I have not looked to see if you already did one on him, but if not, Simon Whistler gets the request!!
"A Gentle Creature" is my personal favorite. Wonder if it's about his father.
7:45 - Mid roll ads
We’re these Siberian labor camps similar to the Gulags? Just curious..
omfg.... HE'S SITTING HERE!!!!!
Wasn't the father a physician and the family more middle than working class?
how dare a mortal man have such influence over humanity.
Drowned in vodka I don't know could be worse ways to go.
usapatriot4163
True. You could be downed in whiskey. Yuck!
Drown me in rum!
Is no one going to comment that it was rumoured Dostoyevsky's father was killed by being drowned in Vodka?!
ALEXANDER SOLZHENITSYN!!#... SIMON!!!
Show due respect and pronounce his name right
