- Steve Wilkos discusses the new season of his show, how he joined the Jerry Springer Show, being a police officer in Chicago, training officers and much more with The Breakfast Club. #BreakfastClub
if cops had this kind temperament, there would be no issues.
I think he actually understands the dynamic of poverty and all the issues that intersect with it, which is why he is level headed and rational. He has educated himself about the kind of people he deals with. Most cops don't do that in my opinion, they act as though they are dealing with animals instead of people that are simply caught up in the cycle of poverty, dealing with all the things that come along with that.
but this is why when you put cops to police the ghetto, they become the ghetto. The city doesn't take care of them and they turn on the communities. Imagine having to see all this crime for the next 15 years and getting into fights, seeing dead bodies, arresting homeless, being exposed to all types of bacteria.. Many of these cops are walking time bombs.. that's why I got out.
Working in the ghetto turns cops bad or crooked? That's bull. Cops know or should know what they're getting themselves into during training. I'm sure they are told the risks of being a police officer. It's a risky job but it's a job they chose. Working in the ghetto is no excuse for corrupt behavior in law enforcement. It doesn't matter where a cop works, whether it's the ghetto or suburbs. The cops know or should know they will have to deal w/ criminals, that's their job. It's also their job to protect ppl & arrest the criminals not BECOME the criminals.
Orlando Chandler watch his show once and you'll see how horrible his temperament is. He's just good at playing to the crowd, that's why he's a talk show host.

They did an amazing job interviewing him. Great questions. Angela has some great interviewing skills. He looks like a police chief and it was great hearing his point of view on the current events. I'm glad he admitted that a couple of those police shootings were clear cut murder.
Love this guy. Been watching him since I was 11 years old. He saved my life. He's like a father to me and that's real.

Moms actually made me watch Steve Wilkos when I was younger. I was a bad teen back then I'm 19 now. But when I was younger I was fuckin up real bad. There was a episode that Steve helped teens and it kind of hit me. So that's what I mean by he saved my life

Steves comments on police lowering the bar and allowing people that ain't built for that type of job, are prob the most sensible comments I've heard on the situation so far. This needs to be shared and aired as much as possible. 👍🏽

Steve's got a great common sense view on cops and it shows he has empathy for both sides (we need to see more of that!). He's very law and order, but also recognizes there's a problem with police brutality, and that ones who go overboard should be punished, and many shootings are unjustified.

I met Steve about 11 years ago he was in Manhattan walking around. I was actually working and in uniform (FDNY) and he couldn’t be nicer. He actually invited me to have lunch with him and his party (he had like 4 people with him). But I didn’t want to impose. So he gave me an autograph and we exchanged phone numbers.
A week later his show producer and I believe wife called told me to fly out and be his guest on his show in the audience. All expenses paid by him. A few months later when my vacation pic came up I did take him up on that offer but I paid for my own transportation to Chicago. But they put me up in a nice hotel and had a Lincoln town car (not the limo) just give us a tour of the city of Chicago. And the big surprise was at one point Steve got in the car and gave us a guided tour.
It’s amazing how much integrity this man has been blessed with because no cameras were running and damn sure wasn’t making money off me. He actually had so much respect for me because I respond and did my job on 9/11/01 and I kept telling him look man I was just doing my job. And my motto has always been “There is no such thing as a living hero” and how much I hated that word. I can’t explain it. He’s just so down to earth. As we were leaving he had us driven to the airport and when we weren’t looking his driver put a card in both my and my wife’s baggage. Each card contained a very heartwarming letter from Steve and $1000 cash. Because I did have a moment when I spoke to him about my demons and it got hard to talk about without tearing up. This was when he was giving us a tour. And he kept in touch for years. I think I lost contact with him when they moved to Connecticut. Yes I got to meet Jerry springer too. He’s a funny guy.

Steve looks good I haven't seen him for a while good seeing him and hearing his opinions about police today. I agree with him that most of these police that are just going to a scene with guns drawn are not individuals who know how to defend themselves without the use of a gun, and they're inexperienced scared people with a badge.
Right. And I think that goes with how they would react in that situation ya know? Like Steve said they can't handle force when inexperienced so when your out in that situation your adrenalin is pumping and you start to think about defending yourself and at that time they think "oh I have a gun this will stop me from getting hurt from this guy" THEN BANG!!! In their mind they know they have the right to defend themselves but the safest way they can see is the gun because you don't actually have to get physical so it eliminates the physical aspect of force and potentially eliminates you getting stabbed blah blah. NOW that doesn't go for all police but just some. Just an opinion of mine tho it's nothing else. Just the way I view SOME shootings.

Steve's awesome. His in your face, confrontational style may not be for everyone, but he clearly has a good heart and cares about people in abusive or bad situations. Very smart too, which not enough people give him credit for.

I like Steve but his statement about 99% of police officers going to work and wanting to do the right thing is a stretch, in my opinion. There is no way the number is that high with what's going on in society today.

Jerry's show in the early 90s talked about social and political issues (since he'd been a mayor and a newscaster...where he did serious editorials). Does anyone think Steve would be awesome in the format of a show like that where he covered police issues and stuff that he has personal experience in? I'd prefer that to love triangles and paternity tests.
