Between the rising out of the floor while people kick flip across the stage and turning into the wacky wailing flailing arm tube man with the cape.. I am cracking up.
Honestly? Kinda boring. A lot of Elphaba’s lack the panic and anger this point of the story needs. Her tone and vocal strength is obviously undeniably good, but where’s the punch? The desperation? She just witnessed her lover getting brutally murdered for her sake and she’s frantically trying to save him- this is the vital turning point to her becoming the wicked witch of the west. We need to see that transition in this number. So many Elphaba’s miss that mark in recent years because it seems they’re focused on just singing the role (Probably at the fault of harsh/ strict directors)
@@shaneearley6835 I saw Caroline live at the end of her run. When this song began, I was blown away by her voice. Will never forget how rich, beautiful, and haunting it was. That said, I got to see a bootleg of Donna V once, and I think she's my favorite! Caroline was just a bit too elegant, gorgeous and perfect to be a believable elphaba. Lol.

I agree! It needed some more punch in climax
