Hi!!!!! Scouter Stan. I love your videos. If there’s something I could sagest is for the kids and adults have their own personal first aid kit known now as an ifak. I am an EMT/police officer and we have our own kits on us at all times. Now that kit is to be used on out selves. The one main thing is placement of that kit as well. The youth will know what to put in the kit exactly after taking the first aid merit badge. When I am at work I always tell my partner where my ifac is on my body for how I feel comfortable carrying it, and what is inside it. Now you can streamline this and everyone has it in the same spot if possible as well. This will also help with the buddy system or tent mate that their partner knows where it is on them. I say all of this because trying to have the medical officer carrying this huge BLS bag around on a hike I think is a high ask.

Having a personal first aid kit is critical to being prepared. The customization of a unit's emergency kit when hiking should be edited somewhat for the activity. The general overall unit's emergency first aid is intended to cover a lot of other emergencies that may occur in general. With everyone having a personal first aid kit I believe that most first aid needs can be covered. Although training is important to everyone. Knowing how to do the job is as important as having the tools to do the job. I'm so glad that you're getting a lot out of the videos, and I really appreciate your feedback here in the comments. Look forward to seeing you on the trail. YIS⚜

Thinking on an adult level, training, training, training. Gear is great but knowledge is better.
As always, Stan drops a video and gives me another idea for my Pack. Offer a basic first aid and CPR/AED training for our leaders and parents.
One thing I keep in my kit, is NARCAN. Not likely for our group, sadly we may be faced with the opportunity to help someone in dire need. Be Prepared
    Another great video sir. YIS

Thank you so much for the very kind words about the videos. I'm so pleased that you are enjoying them. Training is important but having the equipment so that that training can be acted on is important also. In a Cub Scout situation, it is family camping and adventures. The pack should have a good first aid kit for emergencies. And leaders and parents need to step up and get trained to handle those emergencies. We teach skills and do lots of training for events we hope that never happen. But we must live up to our motto of “Be Prepared”. I do like the idea of having a NARCAN available in all unit's emergency first aid kits. We hike and camp often in public areas and there may be a non-scout emergency where it is needed. Thank you so much for contributing to our conversation and I look forward to seeing you on the trail. YIS⚜

Thank you for the video Scouter Stan! I was thinking of doing a video similar to this following a conversation with some of my adult leaders. Some parents are looking to buy their Cub Scouts full-on trauma kits with items we use in the military. I'm trying to tell them we have larger kits with the adult leaders, but the kids can get away with a boo-boo kit for the hikes and activities we take our Cub Scouts on.
Speaking of first aid and more serious activities, are you going to talk about the retirement of Powder Horn? It is one of those high-adventure courses I have always wanted to take, but the stars never aligned.
I look forward to your response. YIS - Matt

I was going to do a video about Powder Horn this season. I may still do 1 even though it is not offered in my district anymore. I have not seen any documentation from Nationals saying that it was no longer going to be offered and phased out. If at all possible could you please send me any links that you may have that they are phasing out the program? I will try to reschedule the powder horn video for later production this year. Please send me an e-mail with the links if you have them. Thank you so much for mentioning this program deprecation. YIS⚜
