I go from the 1K to either the 3K or 5K all the time and both work fine.

I don't use the little nagura that comes with the the stone. It is quite efficient without any slurry and is probably the best bevel setting tool in use at this time.

Do you need to soak Naniwa stones before using them?

    Hello Lynn
Thank you so much for the video! i bought a soligen razor from your website, and its been aprox 4 months since that purchase or possibly less and i think since it was my first ever razor my stropping technique was poor.. now no matter how much i strop it it doesnt sharpen as much, and im considering its time to buy a honing stone, which stone do u suggest i buy??
    Thank u so much

Hi Lynn, congratulations on all your video's they're so informative and for newbie like me it's been such a great help. My question to you is can I set a bevel using a 2000 grit Naniwa superstone and then from there move up to a 5000 grit Naniwa ? Reason I ask is I have in possession a 2000/5000 combo and was wondering if I could start off using that instead of buying a 1000 grit stone..

I don't soak the stone. I just spray it down a couple of times until it quits drinking water and it's good to go. I don't use the nagura because in my opinion, the stone works great without it.

Lynn, are you using the same pressure on the x stroke as with the circles?

    Hi Lynn,
first thanks a lot for this (and your others) video!
I have Naniwa SS 5000 +8000 and want to by the Chosera 1000 for bevel setting.
Is th step from 1000 Chosera to 5000 SS to big? or OK?
    Thanks!

You can set a bevel on the 2K. Depending on the razor, it may take a little longer, but not much. Then going to the 5K should work fine. Good luck.

You can do it, but it will take longer to get the clean edge your looking for before moving onto the 8000

I cringed when you tapped the stone with the back of the razor

You said "you can said a bevel on 2K". That's not true for all razors steels especially very recent modern steels on high ends luxury razor models (thiers issard). If the razor needs a new good bevel,
2K chosera is a sharpening stone, not a bevel setting stone. You will not get a bevel with it.
If you're just reconditionning a razor with common steel then 1K is sufficient for the bevel. But you need 1K and sometimes even 400 to cover all steels. 2K is not a low grit.
