    I've watched several of your videos and subscribed, really enjoyable and inspiring me to go wild camping. No bushcraft skills but back in the day I'd hitch hike with the basics in a rucksack including an old army sleeping bag, camp was the sleeping back in a field, roadside or if raining any shelter I could find (school sheds etc).

    First time as subscriber, noticed how windy it was. Watching this video, I think was a hard life. Some people love the wilderness, others don't. But I love to watch the resourcefulness of these people! They seemed to know what to do! Kudos to them! From Memphis, Tennessee USA!

    I am puzzled...why you didn't do the bacon in the pan first, then the pancake seeing you combined them all in the end. Advantage : the bacon fat is not only very tasty but saves on butter...well, for frying.

      Thanks, it did taste good :) I am still undecided on the hammock haha, once i have gotten in to position I have been ok but 'fidgeting' is tricky.

    • @meanbeetroot3812
      @meanbeetroot3812 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tree dwell or ground dwell according to fancy or terrain (I'm good to go with either decision cos of the kit I choose, although adding a hammock does add weight and take up room: some might disagree). My tarp set-up is lower than shown here to reduce visibility and control chilly breezes but as I suffer from back pain (hey, the dinosaurs were puppies when I was young) I use knee pads to protect from those unexpected sharp or hard objects placed on the floor deliberately to injure me and piddle me off (those pesky dinosaurs, they'll do anything for a laugh). I sleep at an angle across the hammock and sleep extremely well, snoring like a bear in a cave. In the winter I rub two boy sprouts together until I get flame to keep warm (keep adding boy sprouts for that cozy feeling - actually, unless I have to cold-camp, which usually happens when a fire would give away my presence as sadly I have no permitted sites, I prefer a fire any time of year). Currently experimenting with a home-made rocket style stove to keep tarp warm on cold nights (as Andy has previously alluded to in a another vlog, it's all about experimenting until you find what's good for you): takes up room, though. I prefer the visibility and versatility a tarp provides but ride your own road mate.
      Ps: as much as I like beer I find a hip flask of rum, brandy or whisky for my coffee (and sometimes cooking) is easier to carry and takes up less room. Thas jus me tho, hic;)

    • @meanbeetroot3812
      @meanbeetroot3812 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just thinking some more about how I actually lie the hammock: I sleep on my back and believe my feet are to the left of the central line and my left shoulder is on the central line. Shouldn't imagine it matters which way you align yourself. Perhaps others sleep in a different position (?) but this works for me.

  • @daviddingleberry5666

    I have never been a hammock camper, I use tarp/raised bed shelter etc. Doesn't the rain follow gravity and droplets go back into your hammock? is there a way to stop water from following the cordage?

    • @KentSurvival
      @KentSurvival  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah, I need to try it again this year but havnt slept well the 4 times I did it last year. You can get 'storm rings' etc to stop water coming in, I used the cheaper method of tying some string to the lines, though it wouldn't do much in heavy rain.

    • @Caintuckee64
      @Caintuckee64 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good idea... so extra string on the line just hangs down and creates an alternate path for the rain?

    Greetings from across the pond! The ribs looked great, making some this weekend on the grill, about the same amount as you made. Dry rub, indirect heat, then BBQ sauce the last 15 minutes or so = heaven in your mouth! Like you, I can't get comfy in a hammock - give me a folding cot and I'm out like a log. Like your style, enjoying the vlogs. Stay safe.

    Wow, that bacon went from 'A good vet could get it on its feet' to fully crispy in the time it took to cook the pancake's second side.... mmmm, lol, i don't think so. ;-)

    Fantastic video buddy, those ribs looked delicious. Looks like a magnificent location, ive done water drops prior to camping, only to find mice have chewed through the plastic bottles maybe best to store it off the ground. Atb Garry

      Hi, thank you, this spot is actually close to where my camp is, I now just take a 5 litre jug with me, a pain but ensures I can put my fire out properly. Thanks for watching

    Just a thought...We go camping a few times in the summer here, U.S. Pacific N.W. The reason we don't do wild camping is because of the bears and mountain lions primarily. I've had bears raiding camps in an unwild camp before. very unnerving. I have a 9mm Beretta semi auto. But I don't think its big enough..

      Any thoughts? What's the worse thing you've had to deal with there?

    • @KentSurvival
      @KentSurvival  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah its quite different here on our little old island haha, a badger or fox is as big as a meat eater gets. I'd love to camp over the pond us / canada and experience the wild there... my plan is sweden first though, more accessible and still pretty wild :) Thanks for watching again :)
