I am a USMC Vet and after watching your video, your training is spot on. We were taught to never cross your feet in a 'run-n-gun' scenario. Making that 45° shift does allow you to square up to your target while making that movement to not stay in one spot. Thanks, guys, keep up the great training. SEMPER FI!!

You said at the beginning of the video that theres a reason to use each type of moving while shooting but never explained the scenarios for which to use them in. When would i used what you exhibited and when would i use the shuffle method?

Exactly as I’ve been trained. Perfect. Now add shooting while moving back (change to toe-heel) and then put it together and “walk the box”.

How about turning and walking backwards which makes it much easier to shoot the target?

Yep. In a real fire fight....well trained guys will automatically take this stance instead of running like hell and spreading the hate.

I've also been told that it has the added benefit of keeping your most body armor coverage oriented towards potential incoming fire.

You and Coch have both made two great videos here on moving and shooting however, these are fundamentally offensive tactics. All great and wonderful tips for operators who may need to use a firearm in an offensive manner but not for the average person who would be carrying for defensive reasons. I think a video on shooting while (Marines reading this please forgive me) retreating, or advancing to cover that is behind you would be more beneficial to the everyday shooter looking for some tactical help. It is actually a tricky problem, your threat is infront of you, you have no cover infront of you and you are under threat, under fire, and need to get to cover so you need to respond the threat infront of you while seeking cover that is not. A pistol is fundamentally a defensive weapon, its the weapon you use to get to your rifle if need be.

I've always been around fire arms. My father was military.
    I've owned a 410, and 22 long rifle as a youngster.
Dad made sure I knew the proper way to hand, and take care of our weapons. He had me enroll in ROTC, and we lived close to the military base where he worked, so our commanding officers were active. Good days.
To prove he taught me right, one day I was in the garage and Dad come through, he had stepped in white paint, seeing my blue jeans on the garage floor, he stepped on the seat of my pants, and said, there, now you can show everybody how I raised you.
So I had to said, and if you'd nailed my feet to the floor, I would have been 6 inches taller. Lol
To our armed forces, military and police, thank you for giving us a safe place to call home.

Great tip !!! thank you for sharing. If I may add a choice, by changing the line of direction from straight to a semi circle shape, you may still keep the oriented hips as well as keeping the sight on target. Thanks again for the bulk of info you have been sharing.

Moving that slow and shooting really doesn't accomplish anything except making you less accurate. You aren't any harder to hit. The only time I advise moving and shooting is if you have to cause of a team environment when entering a room. Shooting, then moving is the best option most of the time. You can shoot faster and more accurately, and you can move much quicker. Explosive move off the X, to cover, or return a few rounds and then move again. Food for thought 🤔

    • @TacticalHyve
      @TacticalHyve  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Agreed, shooting stationery is always better for speed and accuracy, i.e. shoot, move to cover, shoot, etc.
That being said, that doesn't negate the value of learning to move and shoot. One just has to use their imagination to understand when it comes in handy.
Regarding the speed, yes, it's slow on purpose--this is a video teaching the technique. That said, generally speaking, the fastest one can move while shooting accurately, consistently, is about a brisk walk. Anything faster, shots will be all over, i.e. cover by fire.
In terms of being less accurate, overall yes, but those who practice moving and shooting a lot are deadly accurate. We can tell who practices moving and shooting within a few seconds of seeing someone actually move and shoot.

Crawl, walk, run. You will not have to tell yourself to speed up Whilst being shot at. Everything just has a way of speeding up and all on its own. Thanks for posting
