    Hi 4X4 Australia, I've just seen the CURRENT AFFAIR regarding the issues of the current FORD RANGER. Issues such as suddenly braking at 80 km/h, dash board screen showing nothing and poor customer service. In your future videos, COULD YOU PLEASE INCLUDE CURRENT ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE (any vehicles) and WHAT THE MANUFACTURERS DOING ABOUT IT (fixes). Your videos influences how our hardworking Australians buy their knew vehicles. You will provide GREAT SERVICE to our community by providing not just the POSITIVE and NEGATIVE reviews about the vehicle but also the actual issues with it. This way, the MANUFACTURERS can be put on notice, up their standards and giving the manufacturers the idea CUSTOMER SERVICE should be their number one priority. Now that's a concept, PASSIONATE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

      Hilux is just mediocre.
      It's not great at anything, its not bad at anything.
      Toyota just do what they have to at a bare minimum to keep top of the sales charts.
      Last to bring out lane assist, adaptive cruise, rear vents for back seat passengers... have they put a light in the glove box yet?, seriously mine doesn't have one
      Look at landcruiser 80/105/200 or 79 series. through the roof $wise and they just keep on keeping on.
      Want bang for expensive buck.... its Toyota. You'll work it out once it's time to sell.

      I had the bi-turbo 2020 wildtrak. Now driving the new wildtrak bi-turbo (because it'll take well over 6 months to get the V6). It's a bit more refined in the new one.
      I was worried about something as small as a 2l in 2020, until I watched a towing comparison with a 3200kg caravan and the 2l was significantly better than the old 3.2
      I've also had the old 3.2ltr and the bi-turbo 2.0 has more grunt and smoother than that was.

    "Ranger has a brand new engine"
    I think if I was going to buy the new Ranger, I would wait a few years till they mastered the build on the engine and pick up anything that goes wrong with it etc.
    The reasons Toyota's are so good is because when the new gen comes they really fine tune the reliability of their motors.
    If they find any problems they sort it out fast.

    The retention of traction control with the diff locked is a big advantage for the Ford.
    But you know what? The Toyota TC system is so good that the rear locker almost becomes obsolete. I kid you not, I have done a couple of comparisons with my Fortuner and it makes no difference, locked or not. In fact the risk of damage is increased with it on because the TC is turned off. And I am talking about some tricky mud holes as well as VHC tracks including Blue Rag and Billy Goats Bluff.

    • @vevohoeyo
      @vevohoeyo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ranger is actually way better offroad because of this. The hilux is worse when you ingage difflock. It goes back to 3 wheel drive

    • @garrygraham7901
      @garrygraham7901 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vevohoeyo no, the toyota is supreme offroad without a diff lock because the TC is 10 times better than the ford's. I have had experience with both. The ford needs a difflock or it struggles with traction. The TC is slow to respond and allows way too much wheel spin before applying brake pressure The toyota rarely needs a difflock because the TC is so good at distributing drive to all four wheels with minimal wheel spin. It always impresses me with how good it is. It is almost as good as Landrover TC. But you are right, turning off the TC in the toyota is dumb, and only actually disables the car. That's why I rarely use the diff lock.

      I suspect Ford would have resolved most of the issues with the 10 Speed auto gearbox by now, after all the dramas with the previous generation Ranger.
      Which leaves the engines - and to which I think the bi turbo will be more reliable than the V6, as its a far newer design. The V6 was originally sourced from Citroen and due to the original front wheel drive packaging, the crankshaft was made incredibly compact so the V6 could be mounted in an east-west orientation.
      Unfortunately, the crankshaft is extremely short - very narrow castings on the throw between main and big end journals. I believe this is a weak point for the V6 motor and the internet is littered with examples of snapped crankshafts. Let's hope the brains trust at Ford Australia have made suitable changes to beef up the crankshaft and introduced design changes to the big end bearings so they don't develop a habit of spinning on the block.

      @@motorpolitan8884 both Citroen and Land Rover adopted the engine as it as a collaborative effort between Ford and PSA Group (Peugeot and Citroen were part of PSA). As such PSA vehicles like the Citroen D6 and the Peugeot 607 sedans were running around at the same time as Land Rover Discovery 3 with this same engine.
      Remember that Ford owned Land Rover at that time, and needed to replace the TD5 motor - it would have been horrendously noisy for the likes of the Discovery 3, so Ford repackaged the 2.7 litre TDV6 that was used in the front wheel drive Citroen and Peugeot sedans.

      This handy article talks about the origins of the Lion V6 engine.
      Land Rover did not have the funding to develop a new engine, and under the ownership of Ford, various engines from Ford's vast divisions was put into the Land Rovers.
      The TDV6 came from Ford Dagenham UK factory.
      The 4.4 litre TDV8 in the Range Rover came from Ford Chihuahua Mexico factory.
      Only just recently has Land Rover cut ties with Ford for the supply of their engines, as Tata has injected sufficent funding to develop in-house engines (Ingenium)

    Ford has definitely benefitted from VW in this partnership. The VW motor, which is currently powering the Amarok shows its class. Though the Ranger was always the more car-like truck and more comfy compared to the Hilux, anybody who has driven the Amarok will agree this level of focus on on-road manners is very German. Yes the VW will benefit from all the optics that go with Ford's current success. When the Amarok comes, as the owners of the technology, VW will likely bump its performance figures up above those on this Ranger. Toyota on their part are going it all alone and if they see strategic business value in bringing in some of the stuff on the Landcruiser, including the 3.5 L petrol engine to perhaps make a more aggressive Dakar version, then they will make a descent competition out of it.

      @@stephenchurcher8885 There is no doubt about the value of the Ford Ranger as a brand. I will agree with Ford having had a superior 4-wheel drive system and commercial success. You can't argue me away from the fact that the new motor on the Ford produces 184kW of power and 600Nm of torque. That’s down just 6kW on the engine in the Volkswagen Amarok W580, the outgoing dual-cab powerhouse, but up 20Nm. Anybody can see who gained from the other in this regard. In the end both brands benefitted from each other and there is no sense in thinking that VW brought just their name tag to the table when clearly the new motor driving both resembles its outgoing power unit even to the V6 configuration.
