  • The Big Ten and SEC will officially form a college football Super Conference before you know it. In fact, we will argue it is already happening in college football. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said something very curious about Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti as recently as last week at the SEC meetings which proves our point; the Super Conference is here.
    PREFER SUPER CONFERENCE?
By the way, do you prefer "Super Conference", "Super-Conference" or "SuperConference?" Let us know. Nevertheless, college football has reached a point where the Big Ten and SEC need to bully their way toward their best interests. And that is exactly what they are doing!
The Ohio State Buckeyes football team just got a sweet new locker room for this season. We will try to explain their out-of-this-world recruiting tool.
    CBS TV
CBS has announced its college football schedule and it is loaded with Big Ten action. But while we were looking over college football schedules we noticed the Big Ten designated its Homecoming games coming up. Tune in to find out how Nebraska football is getting picked on. They are not everybody's Homecoming game, but almost.
    TOP TEN
Finally, we come out of the weekend with our Top Ten Big Ten observations. Here's a hint: The list comes from the NCAA Regional Baseball Tournament as three Big Ten teams made the show.
It's all here on Locked on Big 10 with Craig Shemon.

Functionally there's a P2. Is there a break off? No. Why would the B1G or SEC actually want the administrative and regulatory responsibilities of running a conference? And why do they want all the liability with the NIL lawsuits? It may happen one day. That day isn't soon.

Another upcoming Big 10 team also made the Super Regionals. The Oregon Ducks swept Santa Barbara to advance. They did it with phenomenal starting pitching.

The Big 12 should not be comfortable at all. They are laughing at the ACC but you better believe Utah, Arizona, Colorado and Kansas will leave when they can. The rest are in trouble.

The BigXII have been picked clean, which means they aren't vulnerable, but for all the wrong reasons. Do you want really want to be the house that no burglar wants to rob, because there is nothing of value inside?
The ACC still has teams that people covet -- FSU, Clemson, UNC, and possibly Virginia.

I totally agree with your assessment concerning the Big 10-SEC break. It just makes sense financially and helps firewall the conferences from some of the craziness that is sure to emerge.

If you lock out teams like Oklahoma State, TCU, WVU, K State,, Texas Tech, Syracuse NC State, and keep a Rutgers, Maryland, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State, youll alienate 10s of millions of fans that will not watch your product. They will have to make it up on the current fanbase. Bring on pay per veiw

It kinda feels like we're just empowering our competition. It seems like the recruiting in the rest of the big 10 schools will only be harmed by adding southern schools. I said the same of the Pac 12 additions.
If the players we recruit now have an option to go to parts of the country with better weather (California, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina) why would they commit to the Midwest?
They get the benefit of being in this conference while at the same time increasing their TV payouts (which increases competition for the recruits we fight over bc they can offer more money than they do now and they'll be given more funds to compete in the recruiting staffing and facilities arms race).
They can offer a "better" lifestyle to the players in our own recruiting footprint simply by the fact they won't deal with what feels like 6 months of winter.
They get to showcase all of their talents while playing all of the big teams in the conference for the largest national TV audience.
And we get what? An extra 5 million per year? Is that more important than fielding the best, most competitive championship caliber teams we can?
I'm open to everyone's thoughts on this. I'm just a fan thinking about this stuff.

I think you have valid concerns but great coaching , facilities and NIL can offset them. It was really mission critical for the Big 10 to keep its funding and even find alternate means of income streams. It is obviously very well led and organized. I’m really glad my alma mater is now a part of it. It’s a nice change from the schizophrenia of the Pac 10.

B1G has nothing to do with Michigan's natty. The Crying Ryan Conference did everything they could up to and broke their own policies to stop Michigan. Just a fact that Michigan was the very best team in the land this year. They had the worst game of the year and still beat Alabama. The B1G has no right to beat their chest about anything the Wolverines accomplished. Alabama knows what they played against after they beat Georgia, Washington was done in the first quarter. If you think they only won because they cheated then you didn't hear Nick Saban Mark Emmert or Kalen DeBoer after the games. The pathetic ACC, Big12 are done unless they become a midmajor conference. Rightfully so since they're two conferences that started all this realignment.

If there’s a P2 breakoff, I better not see Penn State schedule Delaware as a cupcake game again. If they want to break off completely, they need to do so completely. That way they can go play NFL lite and everyone else can play for a national championship.
