- Over new year's weekend we took a trip to new york city to visit the Nintendo NYC flagship store! Today I share what I purchased and tips for visiting the store during pandemic restrictions

Hey everyone! Last year I had planned on visiting the New York City Nintendo Store (formally the Pokemon Center) but sadly that trip never happened, however, this year we were able to safely head over to Manhatten to check out the store finally in real life! (I can finally stop watching Nintendo Store tours!) Before visiting we did some research to make sure we would have the safest trip possible, and today I want to share with you those tips and of course, the goodies I picked up!
Including Animal Crossing, Luigi's mansion, Pokemon, and Pikmin!

I mean there is still some stuff open and people are still breaking the rules. One of my friends apparently went on a shopping trip all day on Monday and then asked me to come to her apartment for some tea so we can talk. Nah mate, I'm actually distancing because my mom is 69 and while I don't live with her I have to help her with shopping and I don't want to catch anything right now.
@@DieAlteistwiederda That’s pretty great of you, a lot of people would just go their Friends nevertheless , it’s „only tea“ for them. I work with a lot of elderly people and it saddens me to know that I could go to work someday and some of them got COVID because someone went on a shopping trip.

In the UK we got a “pastel animal crossing collection” and it sold out in pre orders! I managed to get me and my friend some mugs and totes
Ahh yes I managed to get one of the tote bags! But it's been delivered to my student address and I'm locked down elsewhere so I've not been able to see it properly yet! I hope it's as cute as it looked online!

That 8-bit pikachu shirt is so cool!
The black bars in the picture are due to something called a rolling shutter. The lights in the display case are flickering faster than your eyes can see but your camera pics it up due to how fast your shutter is rolling.

Omg!!! Bright idea 💡!!! You could try to style the Luigi‘s mansion shirt untucked with a white pleated skirt? It could be a little bit of a play on the sweatshirt untucked with the tennis skirt trend!

i went to the nintendo store in 2016 and imo it was one of my favourite landmarks of Manhattan but i do agree that the pokemon centre is the best part other than the museum/archival areas
I went to Nintendo New York about 5 years ago and go a lil eevee plush that looked like the baby one I had as a kid. was truly worth it. loved seeing the old nintendo consoles. went there mostly to Google and goggle at the stuff.
the luigi shirt would look really nice with biker, shorts tucked out!!

We do have more in Tokyo but the ranges are limited and are highly collectible and you can get them on many second hand resale sites in Tokyo that do send to US. Try mandrake they can be quite reasonably priced. And they post abroad.

I went to the nintendo store on a school trip to new york with my media studies class 9 years ago! It was still a pokemon centre then and I still think of it as the highlight of the trip xD
So excited that you got to go to the store and actually found Mansion merch!
For protecting the logos, maybe try folding the lower part up before tucking it into anything, so that the logos only rub against the soft tshirt fabric instead of the (probably harsher) skirt/pants fabric

I went back in August on the first day they reopened. You had to sign up for a time slot and each person got a +1. I signed up for a 3pm slot, the first one available that day. So I drove in, found street parking right outside the store, waited in line outside, they scanned my QR code and eventually let everyone in, not even 10 of us. Went straight to the registers and bought my Switch, picked up some food, and got back in my car and went home. 😂
(Also you really missed out by not going to By Chloe, it's right across Rockefeller Plaza)

In the summer you could wear the luigi's mansion shirt with biker shorts and checkered board high top vans, or in the fall/winter maybe wear it with mom jeans untucked for a baggy look also make sure the mom jeans have rips in them and maybe rolled up with little nintendo socks showing

oh I think the black bars in photos is like from the fluorescent lighting? pictures are captured from one side to the other, and the flicker of a light (or lack thereof) can show up as black bars
it can happen with led lights too
Maybe the bars are from polarized cabinet glass
@@davidvaughn927 the black bars in the photo show up outside the glass too but not as noticable - they're wider and softer. maybe it's both these things combined? because something in the glass is definitely amplifying the effect

This is my first time discovering your channel and I’m so glad I did! This was a great in depth experience on what you can expect going into the Nintendo store in NYC! I just went there yesterday and I can’t wait to review it on my channel and everything I purchased. My experience was a little different than yours but maybe it’s because I went on a Monday in the afternoon and there weren’t as many people there vs maybe a weekend? They didn’t limit us to 20 minutes so I was fortunate enough to walk around the whole store and take my time recording everything and experience the whole thing. But I really enjoyed hearing about your experience and can’t wait to see some future videos of yours :)

@@Qcknd unfortunately no :( my boyfriend was behind the camera so he got a lot of the Mario stuff, Zelda, and Pokémon in the video. I guess I’ll have to go back for another trip soon! :)

I've been there quite a few times and I love it each time I go. I think the last time I got a Nintendo new York shirt, as mug and a shy guy!

I really want to go there next time I'm in NYC, it's on my list. Try french tucking your shirt to keep the most hem line detail maybe? Also the black lines showing up in your glass case footage is caused by the refresh rate of your phone and the lighting, sometimes adjusting a camera manually can alleviate that

Usually one of the first places that I go to when in NYC is the Nintendo Store. I wish it were bigger, but it is cool.
i think just wearing the shirt baggy is super cute, could be different but could be fun. You could do tights, or shorts and have it just be big, or you could do jeans, idk :) could be cool
instead of tucking the luigis mansion shirt in fully you could try a french tuck? i looooove the way it looks and it might not obscure the graphic on the front since it’s in the corner! 💚

It’s so weird hearing you can’t really shops for games and pick up the cases normally! In NZ we just put empty cases out so people can shop normally without worrying about theft.

Oh my goodness the winter animal crossing collection was so fabulous 😍😍😍 I’ve been buying animal crossing merch off of Etsy and i definitely feel spoiled. I need something with Judy on it! I just got her on my island and I love her so much. 🤩
