بافت تاریخی شهر یزد، بافتی از جنس خشت و گل است. در این بافت تاریخی ۱۷۰۰ جاذبه دیدنی وجود دارد. گردشگران بسیاری از داخل و خارج از ایران برای دیدن بافت تاریخی یزد و جاهای دیدنی آن به یزد سفر می‌کنند. بافت تاریخی شهر، خشتی و قدیمی است؛ اما تمامی امکانات زندگی در آن وجود دارد.در بافت تاریخی شهر یزد، خانه‌ها با معماری خاص کویری ساخته‌ شده‌اند. شاخصه این نوع معماری، وجود گنبد، بادگیر و آب‌انبارها در خانه‌ها است. خانه‌ها دارای کاربری زمستانی و تابستانی هستند و پشت‌بام‌های خاص و جذاب آن‌ها برای شب‌نشینی تابستان در نظر گرفته شده است. خانه‌ها از حیاط‌‌های منحصربه‌فرد و زیبا برخوردار هستند که گردشگران را جذب خود می‌کنندکوچه‌های گلی و باریک آشتی‌کنان با معماری جذاب، رستوران‌های متعدد، اقامتگاه و هتل‌های گوناگون، مسجد جامع یزد، آب‌انبارهای کویری از جمله آب‌انبار شش بادگیر، بازار و میدان امیرچخماق، نمونه‌هایی از دیدنی‌های بافت تاریخی یزد هستند که چشم‌انداز جذابی برای گردشگران دارند.خانه‌های ایلخانی بافت تاریخی یزد برای گردشگران جذابیت بسیاری دارد و هنوز هم قابل سکونت است. مسجد چهارمنار یا میرخضرشاه، بقعه شمس‌الدین، آب‌انبار کوچه‌بندان و باغ دولت‌آباد از دیگر بناهای تاریخی بافت قدیمی شهر یزد هستند.
