this man dropped so much valuable mixing content before it was mainstream and for some reason he never gained consistent traction, yall let your man down, glad to hear comeback
Yo! I found a workflow you MIGHT be interested in. I'm using Apollo's "Virtual" channels to buss from Pro Tools TO Luna, so I can hit summing and tape in Luna, and then out of Luna through another virtual channel back to Pro Tools. It's a way to get the Luna color without having to bounce out stems... you can just grab the color in real time!
Thanks! your comments make me tried and works. Pro tools busses outputs: DnB -virtual 1-2 Keys- virtual 3-4 Vocals Virtual 5-6 Route all you luna audio track with those inputs, then send every single one of them to an aux track(add summing), all those aux track outputs need to be routed to virtual 7-8 on pro tools make an aux track and set the input to virtual 7-8
Yeah boi, glad to see you back! I feel you 100% on the Neve Summing for that price is a tough ask. Feel like they should have launched either with a free summer or a launch discount price on the Neve. Thanks for the shout out by the way, it really does feel like a soft clipper for sure. It does add a depth and I love how it's a super simply extension. But at $300 (especially since it'll cost me more in Canadian), at that price I wish I had more in some way.
@@kungfuthug101 I ended up buying it this month cause right now they have 50% off. I bought the 3 bundle for $399 and got Neve Summing, Studer A800 and ATR-102 all in one go. I really found ATR-102 dope for the master bus and Neve Summing is sooo subtle but needed. All of this analog stuff really changing my flow. I actually do less because they lift the track closer to where I want faster.
@ Jordan Criddle with all due respect Sir, they actually did say at the NAMM Festival that it would be an extension and that you have to buy it. On another note blessed to see you back
C.D.E. ENT just about to say this. They never once mentioned it to be free. Only Shape and Oxide. But people may have misunderstood because a few were free and others were not.
I hear you brother! Here’s something that I feel is wrong from people to say regarding UA. First of all people have to understand that creating these software cost to make and that UA have to hire people to make them. UA have to balance their budgeting when creating and hire these people to make these tools. For example Jordan Criddle I love the time and effort that he takes to create these videos so that we can learn from him or get ideas from him. When he mixes he have to get paid for his quality and he delivers quality stuff. So I believe that he should get paid for his quality and time that he put to mix and create. On another note to defend Jordan Criddle he did mention that what he thought he heard that UA said but wasn’t sure.
I followed LUNA closely since NAMM and I never heard anything said by UA that would make me think Neve summing was free with LUNA. In fact they made it very clear it was a paid extension.
First time on your channel, I've been using Luna and there are many reasons why I'm sticking to PT. UA has a lot of catching up to do before people can use Luna full-time. Your mix was a nice feel but you can still achieve this through pro tools.
Thanks for your video. I want to use my music studio for making my Gospel cd albums & film scoring. I am using Cubase 10.5 however I want to also use Pro Tools. There's so many versions. So which Pro Tools? Which version do you use Jordan? Also I am using WAVES products.
$149 luna essential. Neve summing and api summing and two tapes right now on sale, do you think its worth that price. I use logic prox. I like the idea of using logic for tracking and using Stems for mastering? Ur thoughts? Awesome videos.
Thank you for sharing, Jordan! Informative presentation of the software. I've been digging Airwindows Console6 a lot since I discovered it in 2020. It's a free summing vst/au plugin. I highly recommend it to anyone watching this who is noticing a lack of depth in their ITB mixes and is dubious about shelling out for the Luna extensions.
I agree. 100% that the Neve @299 is a downside and non editable key commands suck but I left protools because of stability and all the proprietary crap and got Studio one which I LOVE but once I mixed a song in luna I was done. I will risk dealing with the lack of features in hopes that they continue to grow the product but HANDS Down Sonically it’s RIDICULOUS !!! Good Video Homie....
Hey Jordan, I wanna buy a new condenser microphone for my home studio I got like a mid/high pitched voice I just wanna get your info. I wanna try and get better quality for my voice and so I can make the mixing easier because I'm still learning the mixing. I seen you had the WA-47 how do you feel about that mic? And if you have any other suggestions I'd appreciate it alot! Stay up and stay blessed! We need some more home studio sessions from you!
You can create your own key commands in Luna. It’s in the OS. Also they never marketed the Neve summing as free. I was following the videos for months before the release. They always mentioned that it was going to be a paid add on. Only Shape and Oxide were always the free extensions.
That's "almost" true. I do some additional work for a music retailer , and many of there initial emails to us never indicated price, it just indicated Neve summing as an amazing feature of Luna.
Hey Jordan, Been learning a lot from your videos man thanks. I'm about to upgrade to a better Mac because I'm running a mid 2011 iMac i5 w/32 gb's and Im running my processor super hot 125 degrees and my fan sounds like a mini blow dryer lol!!!!!!! I mainly Produce in Maschine MK3 and dump in Logic Pro X but I'm going back to Pro Tools cause I just like it better. The reason I'm hitting you is because I want to make sure I'm configuring the proper specs under the hood so I don't have to deal with proccessing power anymore. Please help a brother!!!!!!
Hey bro big fan here, can you make a video of some clean high end classic 90s-80s vocals, I’ve been stuck with bad frequency and I’m tryna find a soft smooth clean vocals sidechain you do, i was hoping you can help me
I know for boy bands/pop (Nsync, BSB, Britney Spears, etc) they would use a SSL with the top-end set to "Bell" and crank 16k to get the "shiny-Airy" pop sound. How they would do the De-essing is beyond me but yeah, this technique was commonly used a lot
I've always liked those that make videos with no hype and honesty, there no "throwing a vail on things" type of stuff going on soI trust your channel already... loads of respect!
💭 Hey friends, I want to clarify something for you. In the Tape section when you choose a preset it is applied to all your channels that have the tape, since it is thought like in real life. In real life when you would record to tape the same settings that you set would be what you would hear on all your channels. 👍🏻Cheers From Venezuela. 🤓✌🏻
DISICK WAS HERE That's true to a point. You can actually select between 4 different tape machine slots (A, B, C and D) and each of those can have different settings. In effect, you’re sending each track to one of four tape machines, each of which can have different settings. So, that is really useful!
My mixes in Logic sound way better than on LUNA, not being to use console efficiently is also a bummer for me... their engine is quite odd to me, everything just sounds a bit offish, I lose sonic oomph EVERYTIME I BOUNCE... Looks like I will always stay on LPX
A calm, well reasoned, dispassionate overview. well done sir. Consider me subscribed. That cool slice of funk you served up, a nice bonus ..I'll buy that when it's in the world. I'm sure UA will start making changes (editable key commands at some point) when users start offering feedback. Almost makes me regret leaving the UA platform . I (as well) remember how they promoted the Neve summing. I would certainly (at best) consider it disingenuous.
I've just not heard a summing plugin and tape plugin that does this so well before. A real tape machine would be better and the console to go with it... but, you're talking $60,000 min. I'm hearing what I would be impressed with if I was to mix. I mean if something really blows up it can be sent to a big studio anyway. I'm making LUNA my main mixing DAW. But I was in the same mind that the summing was part of it hahaha.. it does make out it is. So it's not free DAW if I want that, if I want that, it costs the same as an entire DAW haha. Although it does seem I need to have the mix a bit brighter first before adding it. If people can use Ableton and hardware and whatever and then mix it in this (mix well first) then everyone will have that 'Money sound. I'd call that sound "True Heart" sound personally. Money can relate to it be really it doesn't on a whole so let focus on what really important while we chase the ting that standing in the way of the true things and maybe we call it "Money" in hope money really becomes heart.
I think I will get the summing, to already be ready for the X8P then I might as well not be lacking... although it may hit up a sale around the time I buy (hopefully wishing XD)... but yeah, there's no point the set being incomplete. It does, even now on the website sell it as being part of the package, so UAD needs to address that or look a little bit snakey, on one thing
The LUNA Struder tape and NEVE summing did not sound good to me 🤷🏾♂️. Try softube console 1 emulations or some Antelope Audio interface vintage plug ins
It's great already as a first version. It's a pity that it's the most expensive brand on the market. UA- They don't even care for a VAT exemption for companies abroad. Something almost all other music gear brands give. A bad costumer service... Not so slick 2020!

DUDE! That’s an excellent idea!
Pleas explain how to route so I can try this
How?!
Would be awesome and save some time....how is this done make a video!!! Cheers

Thank for shared!! Do you continued use Luna with Neve summing?
🐐’s back!!! 🙌🏼
Every UA TH-cam video on Luna made it clear that the Neve summing and Studer tape is a paid option.
Missed you bro! Glad ur back! Mix sounded dope! You never went over you mix bus tho 😭 I have Luna and I'm still getting used to it as well.

It's been a while bro... I hope you and the fam are doing well
The Mix is Dope🤓🤓🤓.
It is...nice tune as well.
Yo. Did you use the dangerous on the mix before you put it in Luna?
welcome back 🙌
Welcome back bro
Do these summing plugins only work with luna? They dont work like other uad plugins? I have dangerous summing..im trying to understand
Good review bro
