You're treating Ripjaws like Aquaman from Justice League. Yes, he does have the problem with being on land for too long, but the other aliens had their specific weaknesses too. Grey Matter just wasn't useful in a physical fight. Heatblast was weak to either water, cold or fire-extinguishers. Ghostfreak wasn't really strong. Cannonbolt was pretty klutzy. And let's not forget aliens that made no sense like Walkatrout.
There are over milion species in the Omnitrix. I'm suprised we didn't get to see less powerful ones earlier. It's more than obvious that not all aliens are so useful and strong.
@@theamazingspooderman2697 It's basically a fish with legs... and that's it. Ripjaws is a humanoid fish, that has powerful jaws, claws, and is great at underwater combat.
@@AnimeaddictionNote THEIR NOT SUPERHEROS THIER BEINGS ON OTHER PLANETS it’s like saying four arms species saying we don’t make since cus we don’t got powers
why do people seem to forget this? Like it makes sense why all the aliens have overlap. Yes you have some unique ones but a lot of them is just like real world animals, diverse and varied
There's animals that are generalists and others that are specialists. Both present incredible species that have survived and evolved for millions of years. Ripjaws doesn't suck as an alien, he sucks in the way alot of you people wanna use him. It's like picking XLR8 to to lift a truck, or Stinkfly to go underwater, like what do you expect?
Maybe if they expanded on Ripjaws’ powers, like maybe his bioluminescent appendage could’ve been used to blind enemies, or maybe hypnotize enemies into dropping their guard or obey simple commands (like how irl anglerfish use theirs to lure prey). Otherwise, Ripjaws is barely superhuman, which is a shame because he’s amongst my favorite design-wise.
All of Ben's water based transformations get done dirty. Ripjaws, Jetray who only flies underwater once, and Amphibian who had a ton of cool abilities that Ben rarely ever used. It's a shame.
There's also that he gets outperformed by later introduced aliens like waterhazard and overflow, both of which can be used underwater and on land, which comes no suprise that in reboot he was replaced by overflow
I get what you mean, but Ripjaws is still okay to me. You wanna know which alien sucks? Stinkfly. He became useless after the original series, to the extent that he was basically downgraded to a mistransformation. At least Ripjaws still proved his worth in Ultimate Alien and Omniverse.
Ripjaws isn't useless. He's only useful in certain situations. Most creatures have abilities meant to help them in their own habitat. Ripjaws is adapted for living in water. His abilities are only helpful in missions and battles underwater.
I can't take fans seriously under this. Judging the aliens in retrospect like newbies. It's like someone calling old games bad because of what they can do in new games under new advanced tech. It's already agreed upon in the show's realty was aliens being basic for starters but behind the scenes, ideas start to develop. That's why complaining of Ripjaws useless cause other aliens can breathe under water or Stinkfly being lame cause other aliens can fly is just wrong. I mean the universe is big, a lot of species can have similar powers. It's like a Galvan calling human's worst transformation after just learning there is a species similar to humans but can leap and heal faster. The omnitrix wasn't made to be a weapon for battlefield.
It's strange to hear about "Character Development" of the alien transformation, when it's just Ben in another form and most of his aliens don't really have psychological or mental features that affect Ben's character, only few like Rath, Jurry Rigg, Brainstorm, Ghostfreak, Big Chill, most of the time Ben just Ben
Ripjaws is so useless that Upgrade can essentially take his place. Like in Krakken and They Lurk Bellow, Upgrade can take over machinery and attack underwater
He sucks because he's so specialized Maybe if they added aspects like he doesn't suffocate, but he just gets physically weaker and weaker to the point where he can't fight would have been a better trade-off. Also it's really odd that they never gave him a breathing brace. Despite brainstorm getting It's the silver thing around Omni tricks.
It's a shame that Ripjaws proved to be a rather mostly useless alien as he has a very cool design and in water he's great but being that the series does mostly take place on land he's really not a good addition.
Ripjaws would of been better if he had some type of water control or hydrokenesis, like imagine blasting hydro geysers from his mouth or wrists? like maybe he could breath on land? Keep the sharp powerful teeth and jaw. maybe a more interesting colour pallet? Like take walkatrouts colours and give them too ripjaws and you could get something REALLY cool.
First of all youre wrong, your amazing thumbnail art proves one reason Ripjaws is great. Purple eyes. Theres barely any purple aliens. He also looks awesome. Hes a great alien.
Ripjaws is one of my favorite because he's grounded. Unlike ben's new aliens like big chill who can phase through solids and also ice powers? Like what the hell how can you even mix those 2 unrelated things. They should've just evolve ghost freak and make an ICEBLAST alien or something. Chromastone is another alien I don't like.
Imo, after the first season from classic, Ripjaws just became a joke alien, simillar to Grey Matter. With Ben unlocking new aliens and the restrictions that Ripjaws have, he just became the funny mistransformation alien. While Gray Matter was creative, Rpijaws was still limited as a joke alien. Its sad that he didnt appeared in S3 and only had small and non-serious appearances S4
It's not even just the fault of the alien, half the time they never utilised ripjaws even even when there was water (Benwolf, deep, monster weather, i could go on) And In OV undertown has a pretty substantial river/canal that made for great underwater scenes but was barely utilised
Not gonna lie. I would've replaced rip jaws in the original 10 with either cannonbolt or way big. Both of them are more useful and iconic then rip jaws.
Waybig would have made Ben Way too OP early on which would definitely make his other aliens less significant. Cannonbolt's charm in being the 11th Alien fits better because Ben didn't know there were more than 10 aliens in the Omnitrix, and it's hilarious to see him figure out his powers. Also it makes his debut less significant since he was the only alien that could stop The Big Tick whereas his other aliens couldn't.
On a power level scale, he sucks no doubt, but in my book he holds merit for his design in the original series being about mythological creatures and folklore in tandum with aliens, the original series did alot more then just aliens. There was zombies, mutants and even magic was kinda its own thing. Ripjaws to me is the series trying to play into that by making an iconic fishman monster into some sort of alien, which brings his lore and story potential up by quite alot. His problems arent rooted in him sucking on a power scale level but they didnt grab enough at his potential as an alien.
Ripjaws is a semi-aquatic being, similar to a mudskipper. He probably breathes through his skin when out of water. If a mudskipper dries out, they suffocate.
It would be one thing if his powers were mainly good underwater, but he could go on land, but since he can't be outside of water for more than like 3 minutes, he just sucks so much. Like if he got a breathing tool like Brainstorm, he could at least be weaker but still work.

Each alien has a krutch thats why they have variety in Ben 10.
