QUESTION OF THE DAY: If you're expecting 12" of snow in the forecast, would you go out at the half way point and clear the snow, or just wait until the the snow ends and do it all at once?
I would go out and plow/blow several times (depending on time of day) Not getting up a 3 am to plow! But this year we have had NO snow, of course I purchased a new Kubota tractor with a hydrolic articulating snow blade last summer :)

I have the Cub Cadet 2X 30 Max and I would definitely wait for the storm to be over before I went out for 12 inches. If they were calling for 15 or more, depending on wet or fluffy snow, I would go out half way through.
I have the 2X 26" and I'm totally amazed at the performance, 12"++ deep snow is a pleasure .. far beyond my initial expectations. ... and with all the lights, it's an amazing sight at night. Cheers ..
Depends on the snowblower! If I have the power I’ll wait till it’s all done, if I have to shovel I’ll do it as it’s snowing. Great review! All of the good stuff and no boring filler. Straight to the point!
Good question. When possible I try to knock of the half of snow fall just to make it easier. Also gives me a head start on the end of the driveway before the snow plow fills it in.

My snow blower is a Toro Power Max HD 1232. So far this winter, haven't had any measurable snowfall. The only snow was the blizzard around Christmas time, but with the strong winds the snow depth was less than 2" in most places. The question is, will we get that big snow storm this winter? If we do, I will be ready. Have a safe and enjoyable winter everyone.

I have a cub 30” 2X snowblower I bought 2 years ago I love it it’s truly a beast only thing I wish it had was another front headlight and heated grips because I have a cab for it because we get really powdery snow and it comes back and pelts you In the face so I bought a cab but it’s hard to see with the head lights that are one it
I have a rechargeabe bike light that I've put on my zero turn handlebars when I'm trying to finish mowing in the late summer. I bet it would work on the snowblower. It puts out a bunch of light and is quick to install with a rubber strap system.
I see this video is 3 years old. I didn't even know Cub Cadet offered an EFI snowblower. How has it held up? I've heard some people that have the Arians have had issues with the fuel pump. My friend has an Aryan that I have no clue what's wrong with it is the EFI is outside of my area of expertise in DIY small engine repair.
Where I live we get dumped on by lake effect snow, so depending on how much they say we are supposed to expect I may do it twice. If it’s only a foot I let it pile up and do it once, if it’s 2 or 3 feet I will hit it twice… nice machine by the way.
Do you use the trigger steer to turn it around or muscle it instead? Wanted to see how it worked but everytime you make a pass the tape is cut then started again after reversing direction. Does it take that long to turn in the opposite direction? Should be a nice smooth quick turn made in a second or two with no need to edit any video. Nice job editing though! I wish you good luck with the Cub and thanks for the video, just would have liked a non edited version. Let it snow!
It steers very easy by using the trigger on either side to disengage the wheel. I'm making another video as soon as we get some snow and I'll get some video footage you're looking for. Thanks for sharing!
I love this snow thrower and I am a big Cub fan. All my commercial mow gear is Cub. Tell me if there is anything you dont like and tell me do you like it or the smaller Track. I do love the lights.
I am thinking of buying EFI snowblower Aarons I live in Massachusetts I see you live in Michigan We both have really bad winters What's your thoughts about EFI snowblowers The repair? Start in really cold weather? Longevity?
This Cub Cadet snow blower always starts on the first pull, which I"m impressed with. I store it in my garage after each use. My garage still gets below freezing on those frigid January/Feburary days. Overall, I'm very happy with the EFI engine.
I clear my driveway at the middle and end. My property will only take an hour to do everything, so it is not too bad. Also, my winters aren't too terribly cold with it ranging from above freezing to about 16 degrees. This is with my current snowblower which is a Yards machine 24 inches which is similar to the 31AS63EF700. (IDK my model off of the top of my head)
That's a great question. I buy rec-gas, which is 89 octane, non-ethanol fuel and add Sta-Bil. I then top the snow blower full of fuel, which is what the owners manual states for EFI engines. I also refer to the owners manual for any other preventive maintenance items.
I get a lot of snow and smaller multiple passes keeps the machine from being over burdened and less wear on the auger and the sheer pins. Snowblower don't like slushy mucky wet snow much and bog down. also if the snow turns to ice it renders the blower not useable

IMO efi is a huge mistake what happens when it doesn’t start. Is it the battery,fuel pump,throttle body,or circuit board that runs everything.Give me a good old carberator any day I can fix that.

I'd wait til the storm is done and the street plowed in big drifts over a meter high

Awesome, glad it's working well for you. I haven't had 12" snow yet to test this unit on. Hopefully we'll get more snow later on this month.

exactly what I've done in the past! the only time I split it up is if it's guaranteed to be way deeper than the snowblower can handle in one go.

Yes, take it slow in heavy snow. It helped me out a few weeks ago in some heavy snow the county plow put at the end of my driveway.

This EFI engine has always started first pull. Even last week when I used it.

I would do it twice, once halfway through. We have a lot of wind and open land so we get drifting. Much easier to tackle with less snow.!!
Sounds like a good idea. Sometimes the drifted snow gets real solid on top.

Just a comment: Always start at the up wind portion of the area to be cleared and discharge down wind.

My personal experience is if you're getting 12 in of snow. Do it after it snows your machine is big enough to handle it. I hope this helps you out.

I usually go out 1-2 times during snow event to stay ahead of it .
That's probably what I'll do when we get the next snow storm.

Those are some good points. I always keep my snow blower topped off with fuel and ready to go.
You check the oil on top dibstick! Not the yellow cap on the bottom!
It is all dependant on the amount of snow was predicted. If there is 12 or more inches then twice would be the plan.
Makes sense. I'm still waiting on some deep snow since getting this snow blower. Last year was mild snowfall in Michigan.
What Octane fuel is recommended?
I buy non-ethanol fuel called Rec gas and also put Sta-Bil in it. They only sell Rec gas it in 89 octane where I'm at. So far, it's running great!👍

I'm going to keep it raised for my gravel driveway, but lower it down for the big concrete approach to my garage.
