At Sultanpur Lodhi, First Master Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji spent 14 years 9 months and 13 days. It is also known as Nankana Sahib of India. It is the place from where Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji started his 1st spiritual journey (Udasi).
In Sultanpur Lodhi, there are 7 Historical Gurdwara Sahibs.
1) Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib: It is the place where Guru Nanak Dev Ji used to start his day with bathing in the River Vein in the ambrosial hour before getting engrossed in deep meditation.
2) Gurdwara Sant Ghat Sahib: It is the place where after 3 days of disappearance in deep waters of river Vein, Guru Nanak Dev Ji reappeared and recited Mool Mantar.
3) Gurdwara Bebe Nanaki Ji: It is the place of the house of Bebe Nanaki Ji, sister of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Here, the wedding of Bebe Nanaki Ji and Bhai Jai Ram Ji took place. Before his marriage, Guru Nanak Dev Ji stayed here too.
4) Gurdwara Sri Hatt Sahib: It is the place where the state Granary (Modikhana) was situated. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was employed here and he went on distributing all types of grains by uttering the word ‘Tera Tera’, which divinely means - O my Lord! I'm your disciple. Everything is Yours. Even today, the weighing stones of that time are present at this Gurdwara Sahib. At this historical place, Guru Ji set principles of Sikhism - Kirat Karo, Naam Japo, Vand Chhako.
5) Gurdwara Sri Kothri Sahib: It is the place where officials of Nawab Daulat Khan Lodhi complained about Guru ji that Modikhana had been allowed to be looted. The auditors came to check the accounts of the store and found it to be in profit.
6) Gurdwara Sri Guru Ka Bagh: It is the place where Guru Ji stayed after his marriage with Mata Sulakhani Ji. Their two sons - Baba Sri Chand Ji and Baba Lakhmi Chand Ji - were born here.
7) Gurdwara Sri Antaryamta Sahib: It is the place where Muslim Saints asked Guru Ji whether he was a Hindu or a Muslim. Guru Ji expounded that ‘Neither one is a Muslim nor a Hindu. All are children of the Divine One’.
